I suppose he's ok some of the time but the way people worship him is ridiculous.
Guy made the most boring films ever with women, not actresses like Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman who is still famous only for exposing her DDs in SSS. Glorified the mafioso types ala Haji Mastan in Deewar and many more.
Used to carry around a reco letter from Indira Gandhi to beg for roles. Made up stories about sleeping on Juhu beach benches and surviving on roasted channas. Really, what are the possibilities when you know the First Family of India.
Before his shitty films, there was no question of heroine centric films because many heroines usually got an equal billing with the actors. Women like Asha Parekh, Hema, Sharmila, Waheeda and many more were as important to the film as the hero.
But this man with his 2 rs "actresses" created the myth that films work only because of the hero. Rekha was the only saving grace in some of his films.
Then there was the whole scandal with the indian PM and then he went over to Amar Singh's side whose only bahu till todays is Aishwarya. When Amar Singh feel foul of the public, he quietly made an exit form his side too and mad ean appearance at the hospitalized man's bedside only when Jaya Prada bashed him in the media.
Doesn't have the grace to sit down his son and explain to him why he shouldn't inflict himself on Indian moviegoers. Instead used to blackmail producers to cast him also.
