To guarantee there are some quality performances that make viewers go wow! alongside the mediocre performances. I'm pretty sure they know they won't win. But they earn money and have a platform to showcase their talent, so I guess it's aorth it for them.

Punit completely wasted Faisal last year in teen ka takda. The little solo dance he did to Banjara though was awesome. Only contestant I'm look forward to seeing this year.
