Tanu was always a crazy selfish character.Manu was always weird to fall for her. Climax in Part 1 was stretched and so was the case with twmr. But here in 2nd part, dialogues, performance is top notch. You can't help but fall for Kusum. Pappi was howlarious.Loved these 2 the most. Datto and Pappi. If mindless masala with crappy acting can make 100 crores. twmr getting popular with flawed story is all worth. Kangana, Maddy and Deepak nailed it.

I did not like Tanu weds Manu that much for the following reasons,..
1.
Somehow I cannot connect to Kangana, despite of I have seen and all successful movies of her. She is still somewhere a weirdo, strange accent and action of her style - low speech and dialect delivery and I see in her a weirdo. Hard to connect or understand.
2.
Movie seemed to be of, too much hyped one and ther's no much content in it, at all,... movie is not properly finished, nor much twist / turns, emotional situations, that effective and not a single well - written good dialects.
3.
Madhvan is a Ghonchu and gaabha-doocha kind of ordinary street-walker,..and I do not see a single characteristic/charisma in him as a screen holding decent actor , once we had those looks in Shashi kapoor, Rajesh khanna, and Vinod Kahnna,.. etc. This is just an ordinary - First come, first serve. Amol Palekar, once was like that, but still he was having originality of an ordinary common man in him,..
4.
Movie' s other side- kalaakaars like Pappi, Jassi , Rajesh and many surrounding ones, I see as not a dau kodi of haisiyut in acting, comedy or any. All deserve two tight slaps for their attempt and endeavor to have started working on a silver screen.
5.
Movie is lucky,... that having no strong competitors movie around, but it's been too overhyped, and when a person goes to the theater after listening all around so much and taht much, hardly 25-30% of it is satisfied, of those mountain-sized expectations.
6.
Kabooter dekh,.. and such garbage seems and sound too much kiddo type and I see no comedy in it, rather have pity on the thought process of the director, from where he is coming from ! - Coming from a village or making movies in 1950s?
7.
Movie does not have that much in it, in old decades we had such similar movies like,...
Swayumwar, Swarg-narak, Baaton Baaton mein, Gol-maal, Rang Be Rangi, Pati Patni aur woh, Meri biwi ki shaadi, Chhoti si baat,.. Chitt-chor, ... and such light tone movies, but those were delicious and content-ful. Here it's just 70 percent hype, and movie has almost nthg in it.
8.
Those physco docs, who grab the patient ( that, of a doc level of educated person ) like any prisoner/khooni and grabs and drags to elec shocks,.. Lol ! Does not it sounds and seems very ridiculous and exposes " akkal ke othmeer " kind of directors' brains, who rather needs more psycho treatment ! Lol
Reasonable rating be, IMHO 2.35 / 5.0

That was Tanu's thought in the plane. She thought maybe the doctors would have been giving Manu shock treatment, it actually didn't happen. That's why she called Pappi to take him out of the asylum. I felt it showed Tanu's thinking process of how she perceives mental asylums.
and that further confirms that she was not thinking straight from the beginning of the movie.....
About the first part, i don't think every man fell in love with Tanu, it's more of attraction-the way she dresses up, the way she talks and behaves, usually people tend to see them as more modern(which isn't true), so maybe that's how everybody was attracted to Tanu because she was completely different from the people shown in Rai's version of Kanpur.
agree with you.manu was never really in love with datto.he was attracted to her because she looked like Tanu and didnt overwhelm him.he proposed to her to spite Tanu and then didnt know how to back out.

I have a different take on this. I felt Manu never really loved Kusum. Like you mentioned, he was attracted to a mature version of Tanu, but in his mind, it was still Tanu and not Datto. They both were going through marital problems and after that SMS Manu sent about hating Tanu, whatever followed was just ego clashes. Manu was waiting for a call back after that divorce notice and Tanu was hesitant about apologizing to him. It is then that both of them lost their sense and became desperate to shift their interest to someone else and not each other and that's why I also did not have a problem with Manu liking Datto so fast, within a few meetings because the way I see, he was still seeing Tanu in Datto because even when Datto runs towards him, he was thinking about what Pappi had said about Tanu coming back to his life.
And I think the director rightfully gave a resolution to the problem. It was only when they were apart from each other with another woman in Manu's life did they realize that their love for each other is beyond the silly arguments they were having in the mental asylum. There are subtle moments included here and there in the film where the director tries to show that they still do care for each other and they still love each other, it's just that Tanu did not want to be tamed and Manu wanted to tame her and all these problems were coming in between the couple. That is why I find it really unfair how only Kangana is being showered with praises.Post interval, Madhavan has excellently portrayed Manu's dilemma over wanting to go back to Tanu, not breaking Datto's heart and also wanting to make Tanu behave like Datto.
And I might be in the minority but I really liked that Manu ended up with Tanu and not Datto. Tanu and Manu both are flawed characters and both had to be given another chance to rectify what went wrong in their marriage. I don't think Tanu went back to her flirting ways after she came back to Kanpur. Yes,she did go back to Awasthi but the way the scenes were shown, atleast I didn't find her falling in love once again with Awasthi. Rai had rushed through the first film, I liked how he gave a different side of Manu in the sequel and showed that finally Tanu and Manu are ready to rectify the problem in the marriage...now how they do it might be another story for a third part.
But I totally bought the way they promoted the movie- Sometimes to find love, you need a part 2 and that's why I am very satisfied which the movie because it delivered what it had promised.
However amidst so many praises, it was really nice to read a detailed criticism of the storyline with many interesting points.👍🏼
