Kabir Khan on how Salman Khan broke the myth of Kashmir being terror-infested

Kabir Khan on how Salman Khan broke the myth of Kashmir being terror-infested 40 days without a single incident

PS: His mere presence boosted tourism in the area!

Bajrangi Bhaijaan director Kabir Khan has much to share about the 40-day shooting stint in the Kashmir valley and the Salman Khan mania there.

"Everywhere that we shot " Pahalgam, Sonmarg, Gulmarg " all the hotels were booked before we reached. People in Kashmir already knew Salman was coming," says Kabir.

He adds, "I am told that nothing of this sort has been witnessed before. Many popular Bollywood stars have shot in Kashmir recently. But nothing compares with the crowds that gathered to watch Salman. It was sheer madness."

However, he adds, "Not once in 40 days was our shooting disrupted. Of course, the locals were very excited. They gathered in thousands to see Salman wherever we shot. But the crowds never got restless or aggressive. If they unknowingly crossed the line, we just had to ask them to step back and they did so immediately. They just wanted to look and meet Salman and Kareena."

Says Kabir, "Salman got an offer to be the brand ambassador for Kashmir. But he doesn't need to hold an official position to get things moving. In 40 days, he worked wonders for Kashmiri tourism by simply being there in the Valley, mingling with the locals. A lot of his charity work was introduced into the Valley. And yes, the myth of Kashmir being a terror-infested area has already been broken by the fact that Salman Khan could shoot there for 40 days without a single incident."

Kabir says reports coming out of Kashmir about the law-and-order situation are highly exaggerated. "We're given the impression that people are getting killed all the time. There was not one incident while we shot in the Valley. In fact, the last time there was a terror attack on Pahalgam was eight years ago. By shooting in the Valley without any incident, tourism in Kashmir shot up while Salman shot there."

Kabir admits it was touch-and-go when Salman returned to Mumbai in the middle of the Kashmir schedule for the court's verdict on the hit-and-run case. "We were tense. But not about the film's future. We were sure that were higher courts to go to, in case the verdict was unfavourable to Salman. But as friends and well-wishers, we were concerned. When he rejoined us in Kashmir there was jubilation."

BEBO'S FIRST VISIT, TOO!
Incidentally, this was not only Salman's first visit to the Valley, but also Kareena's first visit as an adult. Says Kabir, "She had visited Kashmir with her family as a child. But she had never shot in the state though her whole family had. It was new experience for both Salman and Kareena."

^^ 🤣

Yes, Bajrangi Bhaijaan spent 40+ days in Kashmir, shooting non-stop.

Bollywood avoids these areas (especially with a superstar on board) because of terror. and not just Bollywood, most people believe these areas aren't safe. I was planning on going down to Gilgit Baltistan with a tour, and my dad didn't let me . Why ? Because there is a Myth that these areas aren't safe for us.

He gave me an example of Malaila 🤔

It's so fake. I see people going to those areas all the time, and coming back in full form. I agree, shit can happen but at the end of the day, it's destiny.

Going to Kashmir, Gilgit, Hunza, is one of a life time experience .. and this terror myth prevents many from going.

and the fact Salman spent 40 days there, is good news for bollywood. They don't need to go to New Zealand to show Kashmir, they can just go to Kashmir.

gilgit one day!

and it's true, like Kabir said, we are given impression that people are getting killed, abducted all the time. 😆 My friends, and many university tourism trips go each year, during March and May (most safest time weather-wise) --- people are amazing , and everything is top notch. India and Pakistan are lucky to have such beautiful, mindblowing, jaw dopping areas to call their own. 👏

Yeah right, lakshya.. based on India Vs pakistani terrorisms had a long shoot in Kashmir too, and many films after that. and Mission Kashmir as well.
Kashmir is much safer now since Taliban is busy giving the shit out of Pakistani gvnmt. They were always hired guns, never a local Kashmiri.

YJHD and Highway had few days of shooting in Kashmir too .

the point here the team is making is that they spend 40 days, lived there, ate there, shot at many different locations and for 40 days nothing went wrong, not even once.

Many indian tourists have one question: "is going to sonmarg, or phalgam safe" - why do they ask such thing? because there has been a myth about these areas. - and BB team spent 40 days and now they have enough experience to tell people " It's as safe as the rest of india, so go visit"

Don't make it a big deal .
