The trio will record and film a song for their upcoming love triangle.

Karan Johar's upcoming film, Kapoor & Sons, featuring Sidharth Malhotra, Fawad Khan and Alia Bhatt, will spring a musical surprise on the audience by getting the three lead players to croon a song in their own voices. The song will be recorded and picturised next month.

The film is a love triangle with the actors competing for Alia in reel life while fighting with each other to prove who is the better writer. There are just three to four days of work left. Once Sidharth, who is in Scotland is back, the film and the promotional video will be wrapped up.

As far as the song goes, the makers don't have any references. They've heard a few tracks available and have also asked music directors to compose something fresh. "They are looking for a fun track with a young, energetic vibe like the film," says the source.

Director Shakun Batra confirms this saying, "Yes, currently we are in the process of locking a track. Karan has some exciting ideas for the promotional unit and I am looking forward to getting to shoot with all of them again."

Fawad is the real musiciansinger in this trio. He could play the guitar, bass and drums by the time he was 20. He was a part of the rock band Paradigm, which later collaboarted with Ali Butt's band Entity, to record the title track for their sitcom, Jutt And Bond. In 2002, Hamein Aazma was sent as a collaborative entry for the Battle of the Bands contest on TV. That was the beginning of a new rock band, Entity Paradigm, with Fawad as the lead vocalist.

Their debut album, Irtiqa, released in October 2003, and the romantic track Rahguzar was very popular.

On January 9, 2007, the band disbanded, reuniting in 2010 for Bolo Bolo in the third season of the TV music show Coke Studio. The same year, they also released the patriotic single, Shor Macha. Fawad left the band in 2012 to focus on acting. He has recorded an original soundtrack for his TV serial, Satrangi, in 2008, and had given the background score for the telefilm Behadd.

Alia made her debut as a playback singer with AR Rahman's Sooha saha in Highway, following up with Samjhawan in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.

"Sidharth is yet to make his mark musically but Shakun doesn't expect him to go in for any kind of training as this is not serious singing. He wants to keep it casual and fun," adds the source.
