It's old goss that the hunt for Aamir Khan's onscreen daughters for Nitesh Tiwari's Dangal was on. There were numerous speculations and rumours as to who all have been approached for the roles. Now we hear that the hunt has come to an end. After months of auditions, and from over 21,000 girls, Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra have bagged the much talked about roles.
As per news reports, Fatima is a Mumbai-based girl, who has acted in a few films and a TV serial. Sanya has been born and brought up in Delhi and is a trained ballet dancer. The two girls will be seen wrestling onscreen, with Aamir Khan (playing their father) coaching them. We hear that the filmmakers are still looking for child actors to play the younger versions of Bhogat sisters.
Other actresses whose names were doing the round to play Aamir's daughters in Dangal include Kangana Ranaut, Tapsee Pannu, Urvashi Rautela among others.
Dangal is a real life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh and his daughters Geeta and Babita Phogat. Mahavir coached his daughters in a sport that was primarily for men. What more, his daughters bagged historic wins at Commonwealth Games. Earlier, the Perfectionist Khan was quoted saying, "Dangal is not just a film about wrestling but an emotional journey of a father and his two daughters, which teaches us to empower our girls."
Well, Dangal surely looks like a promising movie about an inspiring journey. Don't you agree?
