He sure was! Now he's all gaunt and leaves so much to be desired🥱

Aishwarya overall is an alright actress. She can command screen presence, and she can play most parts convincingly. Dhoom 2 was utter crap from her but I thought she was great in Devdas.

I think the biggest thing that used to annoy me about her was that weird giggle. So I hope that doesn't make a comeback...with her comeback😆

I think what's held me back from considering her a great actor (she's sometimes good but not great) is her affected way of saying her lines. That simpering, whiny, on the verge of crying not actually crying voice while delivering the inevitable strong" rah rah rah I am woman hear me roar" dialogue with a pained expression on her face was just annoying. And that kind of acting or whatever you want to call it was present in so many of her movies.

You just brought back so bad memories.

IMO, aish has all the ingredients required (she has very very expressive eyes, a pleasant voice - minus her trademark giggles! decent dialogue delivery, voice modulation and ofcoz the amazing screen presence), but the problem is..she doesnt become the character, there is "the aishwarya rai" present in all her roles..and she carries that residual value (in large measures) in them..which fails to connect her to the character..and the director needs to bring it out from her..she was quite good as nandini in HDDCS and maybe in guru too..

but there is no single movie one can look back and say - "it just belonged to aish"..
hope her second innings changes that..(this is coming from a secret passive fan of hers😆)

Rain Coat & Choker Bali were 2 in which I didn't see Ash. Rest I completely agree with you. Honestly she's Binodini, I saw Ash's personality & less of Ash in her. JA is Ash too. Totally Ash. 😆

oh yess, completely missed these two - this is what a good (great/ legendary) director can do for her - rituparno ghosh 👏👏! I totally loved her in rain coat! so good and damn she looks so damn amazing with minimal or no makeup and she even kinda tried to insert a rustic accent for that role and a superb quietly controlled act from her😳
JA - that movie and its length my god! I was just 😳
