I'm not sure whether Udta Punjab will make it to this year - I think it was mentioned that the makers were trying their best for an October/November release, right? If it does, then competition will definitely be way stronger.

For Best Supporting Actress, we'll have Anushka (DDD), Priyanka (BM) and one of Alia/Kareena for Udta Punjab.

As it stands at this point it's a toss between Anushka and Kalki. One might get critics' and the other popular. DDD has a high probability of being a critically and commercially successful movie. BV I'm not so sure. But even if it does bad I think Anushka won't be affected by it much.

HAK has to become a hit for it work for Vidya. It's a Vishesh film and awards typically ignore those unless they make money, music not withstanding. I don't think Kajol will get any of the big awards no matter how big Dilwale becomes. Udta Punjab might release this year and then Kareena and Alia both enter the race. Kangana might surprise again with TWM.

I don't think Piku will do much for Deepika, her shot is in BM. Same with PC and DDD. I think her shot is in BM too

But who do you reckon will be recognised as the lead actress of DDD? I thought Anushka was supporting? You're right about Bombay Velvet though - it could go either way. So far the trailers haven't been too impressive and have mostly shown Ranbir having the best role. Anushka might be the dark horse of the film or have a really uninteresting part. If Bombay Velvet clicks and if she has a kickass role, all the awards will go to her. If not, I somehow don't see her winning for NH10.

And I'm surprised at the low expectations from PIKU and Deepika. I actually think DP rocks in those subtle roles. I see her having more of chance of winning anything for PIKU rather than BM. However, PC's shot is definitely BM. She always messes up the normal roles, like in DDD.

People need to step back and consider things for a minute.

Anushka is not the lead in DDD, so theres that. NH10 has come and gone and don't hear any award buzz for her (correct me if i am mistaken). BV in all probability is going to bomb and even if it is a hit it looks more like a Ranbir movie. I am hoping that there is an Anushka year down the lane but barring any surprises, this is not it.

Priyanka is supporting in Bajirao Mastani and i highly doubt DDD is a movie that can get her anything if Barfi didn't.

Deepika: Are we even sure that BM is going to release this year? Even if it does do you think it'll be a hit? Even if it is a hit, do you think she can beat Vidya? At this point i'll consider her as third in the running.

Vidya is at this point the only lead. The things that i am hearing about the movie makes me sure that she is on the verge of pulling another DP and Kahaani. (therefore i biasedly hope that the movie flops 😛)

I am surprised that no one is considering Aishwarya who is a sure shot nominee this year whether the film is a hit or a flop and in all possibility is going to win something (even if it is a critics award).

It looks like Kalki is the flavor of the month here at IF. 😆 Anyone who thinks she has a remote chance of wining anything other that the critics award is either not aware of Bollywood or is in idealistic about award show outcomes.

And Lastly, the love of my life. 😳 Although i have my reservations about her doing a Rohit movie, my biased gut tells me that she is going to run away with the whole mela. She is going to be shrieky, she is going to ham but in my biased opinion it is her in the end. (i hope i dont fall flat with these claims 😛)

P.S: With my copious use of the word bias i hope people realize that my opinion is biased. And i also hope people also start accepting that they have their own biases. 🥱
