Same. It is part of being public figure, they will forever be judged . Say if Hillary Clinton talks about women empowerment some might say she was a doormat to Bill for years, so she has no right to speak about it or play happy family act. Thats an opinion against her and might just be true for someone . But doesn't take away the fact that she has a right to speak on the issue. Or that she is a symbol for women empowerment for many for other reasons. Her staying in that marriage was a choice too- regressive for some, intelligent for others.😆

Similarly like you mentioned AB Sr, we might scoff at him but there are his blind fans who take him as family man, he has that brand value . They might buy whatever crap he says. It's all perceptions .We all generalize or act like hypocrites most of the time , it's another thing we just like to pretend otherwise.
Right or Wrong are abstract and subjective when it comes to morality specially.

Totally..The other day, Rishi Kapoor was ranting about women empowerment on twitter & i couldn't help but scoff at the irony..His family din let women work in the industry after marriage, most men in that family are philandering douchebags & he was even accused of physically assaulting Neetu at one point..With such a track record, try as we may, its just impossible to take him seriously..Cos yeah, like you said he has a right to express his opinion but a lot of ppl are not going to take those opinions seriously thanks to his past actions..Main reason why ppl mock celebs like DP when they talk about objectification of women..Cos Bollywood as an industry thrives on objectification & none of these ppl shy away from doing item songs with ludicrous lyrics..I know there are issues about consent & just because they are film actors, they shouldn't be denied the right to discuss the issue but we cant stop people from judging either..And its also true that when an opinion comes from the right person ( or someone who practices what they preach & it reflects in their choices), we tend to attach more credibility to the same..Not sure if i made sense here 😆

Ok, I thought it involved two when they have an affair, not one. 😆 Is he not responsible for cheating too? Why blame the woman only? Lol, if these guys can't keep in their pants and cheat on their wives, why is only the woman being blamed?

I am worried about courts giving such men and women the permission to adopt kids.

Sush was too young when she adopted Renee and her lifestyle was known to all.

These days Salman talks of adopting kids. And it's seriously scary to even think of it.

I pray for kids adopted by such parents and wonder what influences shape them.

If the wife talked like this then it's her selfishness and not misogyny alone. She left her home, she's not working and earning, she's worried about kids, maybe she lacks courage to get divorced and start life afresh, that's why she's trying to blame the other woman.

Though I am amused at both such women. Reject such men. Better off without them. Let such douchebags rot alone.

True, but the term home wrecker by definition puts the blame of the break up of the family, and the subsequent emotional or possibly financial hardship of the wife and kids, on the other woman. Philanderer seems to have taken a romanticized form thanks to the whole "boys will be boys" mentality.

But yes you have a solid point in why even the wife blames the other woman. It's sad and unfortunate but it is probably a very real fear to be on your own under such circumstances.

I don't understand what her past relationships has to do with the topic at hand. But specifically, any woman who dares to adopt two children on her own in a highly conservative country and gives them family and love gets my respect. Her career might not be going places, and yes she might have some unhealthy habits, but none of that should take away from the content of what she said about equality and educating people.

Of course her love life has nothing to do with the topic at hand..I never insinuated that..My post was only about why i personally don consider Sushmita to be a woman of substance, someone who is empowering etc..It has nothing to do with her career or her unhealthy habits..I don judge her on that..If anything, i totally judge her for going after married men despite being spoilt for choice 😆

OT

Hillary Clinton is badass man. There was a time I disliked her for sticking by Bill Clinton. Theirs is a symbiotic political relationship though.

One of the best Secretary of States in US history. She is highly revered by both sides of the aisle in the state department. Even many foreign diplomatic circles are in awe of her. That woman was taking on the old boys clubs in the UN when it came to women's issues and LBGT issues.

I like to believe she would have made Putin piss his pants and not even put forth his UN referendum on same sex couples. Obama, David Cameron are all dandy pansies in comparison.

Precisely. I've no idea Sy, why Sush's affairs need to be highlighted. It was #Her Choice, and she makes no bloody bones about it!!! In a hypocritical country, and an extremely hypocritical industry, she's the only one who lives & loves exactly the way she wants to. That is lovely to see. 👏

B/c according to some people since these things define her character , she has no right to speak on women issues. I don't care for her torrid affairs and whom she has dated in the past but all I know she is right here.Reading some people comments here really amuses me baby.😆

yess she is articulate, classy, smart n all. noone is denying that.
but when u are a public figure and u have made this kind of image for yourself ,then obviously u will be criticized. i don't understand why people are using terms like empowerment for these bolly girls. empowerment has nothing to do with sleeping around, cheating or philandering.
in our country when there are million of girls who are struggling for life, for education n health, where marriage is considered a burden in most parts; we are focusing on liberty to smoke, drink or sleeping around!!! are these petty things really so important for us. no, noone is judging you. do whatever u want, but then be ready to accept it when men does the same. don't play your woman card there.

@Bold +10000 . You made all the sense. Just pick an individual with a so-called "clean" or "right" image and it will sell more. Also if his/her views are aligning with majority perceptions.

Credibility matters alot especially for causes . Otherwise people tend to extrapolate all their reactions on the celebrity endorsing it. I am sure a substantial hate or trolling happened because it had DP as it's face.

Off-topic- Rishi K shouldn't hold back ever, he is entertaining. I am shallow like that.😆

Bang on..When you are dealing with sensitive issues/ those which are bound to elicit aggressive reactions, having the right ambassador will go a long way in serving the cause..Most of these actors just lack the credibility to convincingly sell these social causes IMO..And then again, this whole video was terribly executed IMO with a lot of ambiguous statements which are bound to be interpreted in a lot of ways..So DP or no DP, it was bound to receive flak..And this in turn has given a lot of ppl the chance to troll & mock feminism & women's rights as a whole..This is exactly why i feel these ppl should be careful before taking up any social cause..If you cant help, let it be..Don make the situation worse 😆
