This is why actors need to finish school.

School has nothing to do with it. Saif Ali khan is! and is considered to be one of the most articulate & intelligent actors around. And he was barely 20 when he debuted. Sri's just dumb. Beg A pardon makes me want to run & hide.

^I think by school the person means at least get those grammar school.
Yeah but uber awkward. I liked Sri Devi so much as an actress but she's such a horrible human being--her off screen persona is off-putting b/c of the whole Boney-rakhi-hubby thingy. Plain weird.

Ok.

Well. Yes. I feel all this dumbness & navet is all an act. In today's day & age esp in the industry there is NO-ONE who can survive, let alone be the first female superstar, and be dumb like this. Maybe she's really cunning & actually having the last laugh.

Arjun K loathes her. Can't blame him. She cost him his family. His sister hates her too but Sonam K dotes on her. All that home cooked S Indian food she sends does it's magic, I reckon. 😆

Yes the rakhi tying was downright weird & pathetic. Sri was used & abused by many many many people in the South from producers, directors to politicians. Infact there is a pretty famous story about how she was shooting in Hyderabad (I think) when some prominent politican scion chased her down the studio & locked her into a room or something & the only thing one could hear were Sri's screams. 😭 I just feel terribly sorry for all of them. Plus we can't judge why she did what she did. Horrible, definitely. But we can't judge. Atleast I can't. Life screws over absolutely everyone.

I haven't read this directly from a Kamal Hassan interview but from another message board talking about it. Apparently Kamal had told a story of how on the set of one his films with Sridevi during a break he saw that Sridevi was being fed by her mother. Kamal jokingly asked if her mom bathes her too and Sri didn't get the sarcasm at all and very matter of factly answered yes.

Child stars always end up with some kind of baggage. In Sridevi's case it was always believed that her mother redefined the term stage mother, and not in a good way at all. Isn't the joke "baby ke laye juice laoo" about her and her mom?

Her personal life just seems bizarre and sad. At least the pre Boney Kapoor time does. And that in of itself is all kinds of twisted considering the whole Rakhi thing.

I always cringe when I see her out with her daughters all dolled up. They seem very happy, but I wonder if there are any hints of her mother in her (in Sridevi I mean) and if she's pushing them towards the industry and will become a stage mother herself.

Sridevi was pushed into acting from a very tender age. No formal schooling, no normal childhood, everything managed and directed by her mother, working with men twice her age and all. Her interviews are still useless. She is not articulate.

She is great onscreen. But that's about it. Offscreen she is strange.

She looked like she was very anxious

The reporter's questions were not difficult at all but Sridevi seemed so nervous she that she seemed to not comprehend much of what the lady was saying.

I've never watched any of Sridevi's interviews (past or present) but this was my impression

But I think the reporter was asking stupid questions too.

Her daughters do appear dolled up, but not every stage parent turns into one themselves. Michael Jackson was a great example of that, he protected those children with all his heart and soul, concealing their identities and was mocked ridiculously for it, with the media and general public playing dumb, the media being pissed off that they couldn't have their way with his children because Michael was the shield. The moment he died, his deranged family, including his not so innocent mother shoved those children into the public's eye. They've been kept out of the public more though since his daughter's suicide attempt two years ago. And I hope it stays that way.
As for Sri- who knows. I would hope she'd want her kids to at least be in their early/mid 20s when they join the industry, considering her oldest is 18 going on 19 that would be the case most likely the case hopefully.

Very true about not all child stars becoming stage parents. And yea Michael Jackson's family is just extremely money hungry and looking for ways to profit. But MJ himself was such an odd duck, and this is putting it very nicely, that it is hard to think of him as a normal parent, or even a good one sometimes. I mean shielding your kids is one thing, covering their faces with veils is another. But this a whole new can of worms lol.

Yes Jhanvi is 18 or 19 and still hasn't joined films so that is a very good sign. Maybe it is a case of protecting her children from what she went through. Or maybe it's the financial stability of being Kapoors that has saved them. Who knows, maybe Boney has been Sridevi's savior.

And someone mentioned how Sonam Kapoor likes her. I think it was MEB. When Boney walked out on Mona and married Sri it was reported that Anil and his wife supported Boney and were actually the only ones from the Kapoor side of the family to be at the wedding. There are actually pictures of a young Sonam Kapoor and her mom at what looks like Sridevi's mehndi ceremony. Seems like Sonam and her siblings were kept out of this particular family drama.
