Sid. Music can only help a movie to earn max. 5 crore more on first day. So, 16 - 5 = 11 cr... still more than others' solo release.

Udta Punjab boxoffice will give a hint about his boxoffice pull... coz the director's last movie has been immensely appreciated and people will come to watch the next...so the burden lies on Shahid and his stardom to make it a hit

but saying that, it's truly funny that he still doesn't have one 100 cr movie...

Kashyap, Dibankar etc not big commercial directors yet. They are only getting opportunity to work with big PH now. Santoshi did Phata Poster after super hit APKGK so he was in top form then.

As for others, they'll go with actors with better pull only. No one is gonna green lit 100 cr movie like BM with Shahid when his biggest grosser isn't 3/4th of that. That's a fact. Humpty didn't have higher budget than Shahid movies so VD deserves credit for that. People were drawn to him due to his screen presence even though he had done only 2 films. And he's building good fanbase now.

Anyways I think Shahid is the only one below 35 who has a pretty strong fanbase. Though they dont always translate to BO due to his film choices.

I know right 😆 First he competed with the Khans, then Hrithik, Ranbir, Ranveer and now with these newbies. Shahid is limited edition 😉

I think it's still a little early to compare but a lot of credit for ek villains opening has to go to the spectacular music and on the buzz that it was coming from the makers of ashiqui 2, ritesh in a new role etc...varun's always had a bad release date, world cups, ramadan etc...shahid has a strong fan base and is a good actor but seems purely unlucky when it comes to box office...with a good director and strong banner he should be able to get a strong opening

We should say what Kareena fans used to say about her competiting with everyone from Ash Rai to Rani to Katrina to Alia...that look...he is relevant! The other faces change but he remains constant. 😆

Wait then why are you comparing Shahid to this lot? It makes no sense.

Akshay's actually had a lot of hits in the 2000s which gives him the superstar status, not because he's been here for a long time. But his flops are what puts him behind the Khans, in ranking. That's where flops come in, to determine your success rate and your overall BO power.

Just like no one would say Arjun has more BO pull than Varun because the guy just gave two back to back flops, and his overall success rate sucks compared to Varun.
