Oh yes his accent is totally easy to figure out!! But most actors don't have an accent now. They talk in standard American. So say all the NRIs on IF.

i'm always intrigued by indians i meet from the deep south (given all the tensed racial history in the south).

the best analogy i can give is how people from different parts of India have a slight regional accent to their english and hindi - because of this you can make out if a person is a native bengali speaker, or a native gujarati speaker or a native tamilian based on a slight regional accent they have in their english or just the way they pronounce certain things. but you also have instances of some people (off the top of my head i can think of shashi tharoor) whose english is very refined and you almost detect no accent from them.

similarly in the US they have different regional accent. within the northeast the big distinct ones that stand out are new jersey, boston, brooklyn - which sound somewhat similar to an untrained ear, but sound completely different from the southern (deep south) accent in the US, which sounds different from california accent, which sounds different from midwest accent, which sounds different from minnesota accent (closer to canadian english i think).

for me the different accents of uk used to sound the same, and i couldn't really tell them apart even from other places like australian or new zealand accent. but over time after watching movies/tv shows i can draw a better distinction between between irish, scottish, welsch, english and australian (and occasionally new zealand).

I grew up in South so the only difference I can tell is there a Jersey Area accent and there is the deep South. These two are the only ones I recognize, rest sound the same.😆

thank you for the info. 😳Yes, it easy to distinct a deep southern accent , a NYC/Jersey area or Cali , rest sound standard .Btw,I grew up in in NOVA which is near d.c. It's still considered south but not deep. it's very different compare to what Georgia /Alabama is.

^ That is true. South Carolina has a distinct accent from NOVA.

But NOVA and places in central/southern VA have very little difference in accents. At least I can't tell. I've grown up in NOVA all my life too. Boston and NOVA don't have much of a accent difference either. I have many relatives from the Boston area and I find their accent just like ours.

My boo (Tom Brady) was in Michigan a good part of his life, but he's also been a Californian and Boston guy as well. I don't see any difference in his English and mine. No accent or anything. But maybe that's just me. I don't know.

u a patriots fan huh? It does . NOVA is very metropolitan area and very diff from deep south. When you go in to Shenandoah valley area, they do have a thick accent . In Orange County VA too, that's what I experienced. They don't .I live near Boston now due to school but yes they are very similar.

You bet I am. Well I studied in Central VA and I didn't find any accent differences. Haven't been much to the areas you have mentioned so I guess I wouldn't know much. But Boston and VA are similar.

My boo (Jack Falahee) is from Michigan &'I keep reading online about how he has a Michigan accent.. He does speak ever so differently but I reckon that's just him ...
