Karan Johar's answer to AIB Roast detractors?

A lot has been said and written about the AIB Roast episode. However, Aamir Khan gave the incident a new twist today when he commented on it, and also condemned it openly.

Raking a new controversy, superstar Aamir Khan made his displeasure known openly, over the whole issue. Aamir made it clear that Karan Johar and the other two stars Ranveer and Arjun, have a responsibility towards society and that they should refrain from such activities.

Until now, B-town colleagues had mostly supported the AIB Roast saying that the participants were entitled to their opinions and 'freedom of speech'. However, Aamir took a U-turn here and explained in detail why he did not find this amusing. He also went to the extent of saying that this was indeed a form of 'violence'.

Karan, who is currently in London, tweeted, "Silence can mean several things...strength...weakness and indifference...to me it always signifies dignity...which is above everything else!".

Well, do you think that Karan tweeted this as he was not too happy with Aamir's open criticism?

If only the writers of AIB had take a moment of silence to think about the issue before using ebola, ISIS, and religion in their joke.

Brilliant, simply brilliant aamir👍🏼 I love his work but you need guts to say what aamir have said here directly using karan namE.

What is he supposed to say? People like Pandit or president if WFICE made it very clear that they just didn't like what they saw regardless of what the context and environment was. I don't think that people gave any room for dialogue or communication. It was a very stern APOLOGIZE OR ELSE!!! order that he was given. He made the decision not to apologize and clearly made the decision not to get into a back and forth. So yea call me crazy but I think he has shown dignity here.

Making sexual jokes at a roast is fine. It is a roast and that's what happens at roasts. If Hiroo Johar had no problems with her son saying "that's my position" then it is no one else's business to treat Karan like a misbehaved child and scold him for saying that in front of his mother. But Ashok Pandit tweeting that Karan should have shown his positions to his mom at home was extremely inappropriate. Yes there is a big big huge difference here. And then saying that if Yash Johar had been alive he would have died of shame was not any better.

Well,... here is one more idiot, ( aamir ) an another Manoj Kumar of the Modern times who makes money just like that Bharat Kumar of 60s, by his satyawaadi " Satyamev Jayte " shows - charging 5Crs + a show,...and that was 3 yrs ago !

Now this hypocrite also,. jumps into this AIB baloney ( jale mein haath shekne ) for saane , sayaane, sufeeyaane, pravachans and sadhu-like advices,.. ! Waah ! Bahoot khoob,.. wonderful ! haan !

Was not he the same guy who had in his movie Earth dialogues like.. " Bhenc*d",.. spoken by him,..

Was not this the guy who fought with his own brother, in real life, in physical volience and there were court cases,...and attornies,..

Was not this the same guy who had in his movie delhi belley the dialects like,...

At a mariage wedding, an on-going ceremony,... a guy says to the bride,..,.. " yeh shaadi nahin ho sakti,. kyun ki iis larki ne mera chusaa hai " ( these were the exact words ) - Oh My ! this level of dialects, never ever came in any BW movies, in last 100 years, that I know !

Also those songs like,... Bhaag Bho**dike bhaag,..

Delhi Belly had the dialects ,.. those have not come in any fim yet, in BW's 100+ yrs of anniversary !

OK so I just watched the whole video with Amir, and I completely agree with him. Yes things which they have said were insulting and they should have had common sense to decide which jokes are appropriate and which are not.

But that doesn't mean they should be banned. There is a freedom of speech and they have a right to say whatever they like but then they should also be ready to face the consequences.

If tomorrow farida jalal or any of the people who they made fun of decide to sue them then they can't hide behind freedom of speech. There are consequences to saying the things about a person without their consent, there is defamation. So be ready to answer those people.

I will also add I personally have not watched the show, but from peoples post it seems like karan made mockery out of his sexual orientation yet again, which is frankly getting boring for me personally but that doesn't mean I have a right to stop him. He can make fun of himself as much as he likes, who are we to stop him. I rather see him become a upstanding gay man who young gay boys can look up to instead of someone who makes a joke every other second about being gay. But whatever floats his boat, if he wants to be known as joke then who are we to stop him.
