In Bollywood there is a tendency to overkill 😒
The latest is the drive to produce biopics on the lives of anyone and everyone ! Almost daily a new biopic is announced ..some of them truly laughable😆 I mean who would rush to the theatres to watch a film based on MSD's life when his exploits on field are so fresh in memory and he has miles to go before he hangs up his boots. The other strange announcement was of a film on Tendulkar with he himself donning the grease paint to act in a biopic on him 😆 In both cases these efforts will merely erode the credibility of the heroes they desire to immortalize. Just dread the follow through if others fall in line to next produce films on Sunill Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Saurav Ganguly, Anil Kumble etc etc . The game of cricket will suffer in the bargain with this overkill ...as it is it is dying a slow death... as will the careers of the actors being roped in to impersonate these heroes on screen .
Internationally films are made to promote originality but we here in India thrive on just copying anything that succeeds till it becomes so hackneyed and bursts at the seams 😡

Bollywood urgently needs to inject some freshness in concept .

Let us bury the sequels and of course the biopics so we may conserve the exploits of our heroes some more ... and they do not become epidemics that will make us flee from the theatres.

In this Oscar season let us look at what gets nominated for the most respected awards .Originality is definitely a bonus and if a real life story is being cast on celluloid it is of a legend who transcends humanity ..like Dr Stephen Hawkins in The Theory of Everything.
