Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in the Khaike... song in Don |
It's hard to take your eyes off Shah Rukh Khan every time you see him in the Khaike Paan Banaraswala track in Don. It's a lesser-known fact that after a long hiatus, SRK has teamed up with his former mentor, Saroj Khan, for the dance sequence.
Sources say that the actor literally struggled to master the steps choreographed by Saroj and rigorous rehearsals would continue till the wee hours of the morning.
Says Saroj, "Yes, it did take Shah Rukh some time to get used to my style again, so we would practise from 9 pm to 5 am. At the outset of his career, he worked with me on a few films. Later, he joined hands with Farah (Khan)."

Lage raho
But Saroj is quick to point out that SRK preferred to sweat it out. She says, "It took us five nights to pull off the dance comfortably.
But at no point did Shah Rukh ask for easy steps or make me change the composition I had in my mind."
No wonder he's dancing with such abandon and actually looks like he's enjoying it! In fact, Saroj has some fond memories of the Baazigar days when she had choreographed a few dance sequences.
"If you ask me about my favourite sequence, then it has to be the title track of the film. Shah Rukh did a wonderful job in it," she says.
Playing it safe
But training the actor for this track was an uphill task. "While composing the choreography, I was extremely cautious because I didn't want anybody to say that it resembles Amitabh Bachchan's moves in the original."
She adds, "Filming the song was a fun experience. Everybody, including Priyanka (Chopra), had loads of fun. There were a few kids on the sets who also learned the steps and would say that they can perform better than Shah Rukh," she says.
Ask her about Shah Rukh's dancing skills and she says, "He is very good, but not better than Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik has a unique style and there is nobody who can surpass him."
