The rumors of a strain between Ash and her in laws started mainly after Aaradhya was born, or at least it gained a lot of momentum and it never went away. I think part if that was lack of pictures with her in laws. In the first couple of years of marriage she was very lovey dovey and touchy feely with Ma and Pa Bachchan. She used to be ridiculed for being fake and people made Hum Saath Saath Hain jokes about their dynamics. Whether that caused her to back off the displays of affection in public or if it was a simple case of her no longer being a newly wed and the excitement wore off I can't tell. But in front of the media she doesn't share the same physical proximity with her in laws now that she did early on in her marriage.
