As for them calling Ranveer instead of Sushant...if Ranveer is naturally gifted with the ability to entertain people in these promotional type of events, and someone like Sushant's forte lies in other places, why not? Why subject actors who don't like and aren't naturals at this stuff to promotional events and the audience to watch them too, when you can have those who breeze through and actually generate significant or entertaining content outside of movie scripts?
