It seems not only daily soaps but also crime based shows are becoming a platform for the promotion of Bollywood movies. Apart from Comedy Nights with Kapil which caters to all age groups and invites celebrities on their show, Life OK's Savdhaan India, will see actors from the upcoming film Khaamoshiyaa for its promotion.

Our sources says, "Sapna Pabbi, Ali Fazal and Gurmeet Choudhary will be seen hosting the upcoming episode of Savdhaan India."

Well it will be amazing to watch Gurmeet Chowdhry hosting Savdhaan India!

2015 Preview: Debutants of the Year!

BollyCurry brings to you this memo of a few handpicked Debutants of 2015.

There are people without whom Bollywood would have never reached the immensity it currently boasts of, Indian cinema would have never seen this rapid increase in population and the big screen would've lost its impeccable charm. They are the Debutants, for they are the reason the film industry keeps getting bigger whilst bringing forth new faces, new skills, new love stories, new drama, new genres of films and the list goes on. This year of 2015 is no exception; while some are ready to take the back seat and enjoy life off-screen, some are excitedly waiting to make their debut on the big screen and herald a new chapter in their life. With this, BollyCurry brings to you this memo of a few handpicked Debutants of 2015.

Beginning the list is the ever so handsome and talented Karan Singh Grover. Grover began his life on the small screen as a soap-opera actor and garnered popularity amongst audiences through the hit medical drama Dill Mill Gayye and the dramatic love story in a Muslim backdrop of Qubool Hai. Grover is all set to prove his mettle in Bollywood with director Bhushan Patel's upcoming horror flick Alone, opposite Bipasha Basu. The story tells the tale of two conjoined twin sisters, who promise to always be by each others side, until one of them dies. Years later her ghost self is back to haunt the living sister, to seek revenge for the broken promise. With the film's music and trailer already becoming the hot talk of the town and getting Grover fans excited with anticipation, Alone is expected to dazzle the silver screen on January 16. The answer to whether Grover shall manage to make his presence known and outshine the others is eagerly being awaited by all and sundry.

Next on the list is the dashing and gifted Gurmeet Choudhary. This skilled dancer made his appearance on many dance reality shows and has been a part of many Indian soap operas. His biggest successes to date have included the dramas Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi and Punar Vivah. Choudhary has gotten the big ticket to Bollywood and will be making his debut on January 30th with Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt's erotic thrillerKhamoshiyan. The film narrates the story of a writer who accidentally stumbles across a woman who has a very dark past, all in the beautiful locale of Kashmir. Rumor has it that Choudhary is going to switch up his hero image and play the antagonist in the movie. We do hope the risky debut works in his favor and he adds to his large fan base! Alongside him is debutante Sapna Pabbi and the known actor Ali Fazal.

This talented and beautiful actress has made quite a name for herself in the TV industry and is hoping to do the same in B-Town this year. She stepped into the world of glamor at a young age and has a myriad of popular shows to her credit including Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Dill Mill Gayye and Saraswatichandra. Her debut will be opposite director-turned-actor Kunal Kohli in the film Phir Se, which is set to hit theaters in May this year. The movie has managed to create a lot of hype amongst fans, what with the beautiful outdoor locations and the bright new look of the actress. The result of Kolhi's shift from behind-the-scenes to the front of the camera is yet to be seen!

Akshara Hassan

Following her family legacy, Kamal Hassan's second daughter Akshara Hassan is all ready to set the screen ablaze this year. After working behind the camera for a long time as an assistant director, Haasan is foraying into the acting world with her debut in R. Balki's upcoming venture titled Shamitabh, alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush in lead roles. While Bachchan is already being cited to be all praises of the young lass, we do hope that news about her giving the contemporaries a run for their money is indeed true.

Harshvardhan Kapoor

Harshvardhan Kapoor, the son of actor-producer Anil Kapoor and brother of actress-cum-fashionista Sonam Kapoor is stepping onto the ladder of Bollywood via director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's dream project Mirziya. He shall be working opposite another debut actress, Tanvi Azmi, who also has an acting lineage. The story is based upon the age long folklore showcasing the tragic story of Mirza and Sahibaan. The movie is said to be a wonderful love story that viewers will be eager to watch as much as the director is keen on having it on the big screen. Let's see how well the Kapoor lad is able to portray this challenging role!

Along with these, there are a few other people who are making their debuts, including Nathalia Kaur in Rocky Handsome, Vikas Kumar in Prithipal Singh...A Story, Sooraj Pancholi in Hero (Remake) and Athiya Shetty in Hero (Remake).

We, here at BollyCurry, send our best wishes to these actors who are embarking on a new journey to stardom and laud the ones who are climbing the higher rung of the ladder in moving from television serials to Bollywood films. As BollyCurry signs off, all of you are invited to pen down who's debut you eagerly await in the space below.

PIX: Mahesh Bhatt, Khamoshiyan stars visit Rediff offices

Last updated on: January 14, 2015 18:37 IST

Here we are, just hanging out with the stars.

The stars of Vishesh Films' upcoming supernatural film Khamoshiyan recently accompanied Mahesh Bhatt for a visit to the Rediff office in Mumbai.

Take a look at what they were up to during their time here.

British actress of Indian origin, Sapna Pabbi makes her Bollywood debut with the supernatural-erotic thrillerKhamoshiyan.

You may remember having seen her in Anil Kapoor starrer 24, playing the actor's daughter.

A former student of Public Policy and Governance, Pabbi hails from a conservative Punjabi family based in England.

'My father is the copy of Amrish Puri from DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge),' she tells us.

In her own words, she would sneak around to participate in shows and eventually left her job to try her luck in Bollywood.

Of course, there was the 'Jaa Simran, jee le apni zindagi' moment with her father, she adds.

And yes, television heartthrob Gurmeet Chaudhary, who makes his Bollywood debut with Khamoshiyan, takes his shirt off!

Gurmeet also makes his abs dance! Yes, you read that right.

Watch the video to see what we mean!

The film also stars Ali Fazal (of Fukrey, Bobby Jasoos fame) in a central character.

Fazal and Sapna Pabbi look on attentively as Mahesh Bhatt recounts his first visit to the Rediff offices (more than a decade ago!) and talks about his new film.

Here is Ali Fazal again, showing off his beautiful face in the most disarming manner ever.

Fazal, who was initially reluctant to talk about his Fast and The Furious role, gave in soon. He adds that he got a chance to work with the late Paul Walker before he had to leave for India to work on his previous film Bobby Jasoos.

A popular name thanks to his successful stints as Lord Rama on Ramayan and celebrity contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Ja, Gurmeet shares his experience of transitioning from the small to the big screen.

"The long hours, heavy scripts and dialogues on TV shows prepare an actor for the big screen," he says.

The veteran Mahesh Bhatt shared some very personal details about his life during his time in the Rediff office.

For over six decades, the haunting notes of Lata Mangeshkar's evergreen classic Aayega aayega, aayega aanewala aayega have echoed through our collective consciousness, bringing back memories of an ethereal Madhubala on a swing in the garden, before disappearing into the mists of time. The song has come to be synonymous with Kamal Amrohi's directorial debut, Mahal, and after the film's release in 1949 played on Radio Ceylon everyday.

Sixty-five years later, we will hear Aayega aanewala again, playing on the radio, during a dramatic point in Karan Dara's directorial debut, Khamoshiyan, setting the theme for the supernatural thriller. "We have bought the rights to the original song from Sa Re Ga Ma and have got permission to use a slice of it in our film," informs Mahesh Bhatt.

Madhubala was just 16 when Kamal Amrohi, against the advice of everyone, cast her as Kamini. Ashok Kumar who was almost double her age played Hari Shankar, an aristocrat who stumbles into the haunted mansion, comes face-to-face with his lookalike's portrait and comes under the spell of this mysterious miss who appears and disappears at will. "We also have a ghostly, beautiful woman in our film and a man who is drawn to her," informs Bhatt, adding that the 'mahal' has transformed a huge hotel in the wilderness with few occupants.

Mahal, made on a modest budget of Rs 9 lakh, was the third highest grosser of 1949. And it made Lata Mangeshkar a household name. In keeping with the trend of the times, in the first batch of records Aaayega aanewala was credited to Madhubala's character, Kamini. But when the song first played on All India Radio, mesmerised listeners called in to enquire about the singer's name. AIR called up the record company before announcing Lata Mangeshkar's name on air and made her an overnight star, much like Mahal's teenage leading lady.

"This song is a timeless work of art and by weaving it into our narrative we are offering a salaam to the filmmakers, actors and singers of the bygone era who gave Hindi cinema its place in the spotlight," asserts Bhatt.
