Happy New Year is looking at a 179 crore nett finish compared to the 212 crore nett of Kick. The main difference is the business in the single screens. the approx break up of business for both films is as follows.

Multiplexes
Kick - 135 crore
Happy New Year - 125 crore

Single Screens
Kick 77 crore
Happy New Year - 54 crore

Kick grossed just 8% more at multiplexes but was a huge 43% better at single screens. Kick had a 63.5% contribution from multiplexes while single screens gave 36.5%. Happy New Year had a 70% contribution from multiplexes and 30% from single screens. In fact Happy New Year had better collections than Kick in week two and three at the bigger chains like PVR and Inox.

Salman's multiplex audience has increased tremendously after Dabangg . Even for ETT most collections were from multiplex . B4 Dabangg his movies didnt open well there

The collections of CHENNAI EXPRESS from multiplexes and single screens compared with YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI, the other big grosser of 2013, is as follows.

Chennai Express -128 crore
Yeh Hai Jawaani Hai Deewani - 120 crore

Single Screens
Chennai Express -80 crore
Yeh Hai Jawaani Hai Deewani - 58 crore

TOTAL
Chennai Express -208 crore
Yeh Hai Jawaani Hai Deewani - 178 crore

HNY scored 3cr less in multiplex but it fell way short in SS compared to CE

nop but i can say it was out and out multiplex film singham came in the 2nd week and it dominated SS so it should be 80:20 ratio for znmd

Getting fan following in single screens is 10 times difficult than multiplex..but those fans are lifelong loyalists. To penetrate single screen fanbase is damn difficult.
Ranveer's last two movies were aimed at single screens, still the multiplex collections were higher than single screen...

On the positive side, DDD should be huge. Zoya movies cater to multiplexes and Ranveer's good movies do better in multiplexes ...i will be really happy if it opens 20+
