Yes, there, I said it! I really did end up liking HNY...just finished watching it.
I didn't even know where the time went for the first 2 hours, never realized DP entered an hour later actually. Yes, it had flaws too, a few of which really just stand out...but, still it was good, entertainment wise (I had been way too tired, had no energy to sit through a 3 hr film, but it went by so fast...)
Things I liked/appreciated (may contain spoilers, read at your own risk...chalo ishtarts):
-SRK not overacting š
-covering/showing each aspect of the robbery
-DP and Shah's chemistry even in that limited screen time š³
-Nandu Bhide <3
-Mohini šš¼
-the whole sequence of "the plan" ...š...that was really a clever way of explaining things rather than just saying it out and loading ppl with a bunch of info
-The songs were actually much better as they appeared in relation to the movie/situation...with the exception of Dance like Chamiya...why couldn't they shoot it another way, the song was good on its own but that sequence ruined it
-The togetherness of the whole team ...everyone was good with what they were given! And who says, Shah took a backseat? I think his screen time was just appropriate for the story.
Side notes:
-OMG, Sajid Khan has doubled up or what..felt bad for him š
-and, W*F was that Vishal-Anurag combo cameo?!? š¤£ ...I dunno, this was was one of the most ridiculous scenes of the movie, along w/ that Charlie and Korean guy fight, liked the background music in that sequence though
Overall, the film aims to only entertain and does so nicely...I'll say its one of the better "masala" movies of recent times. I remember the criticism from someone that HNY tried to mix all themes together heist/comedy/desh bhagti/romance etc. and jumbles them together, but I think everything sorta did fit in somehow, I didn't particularly mind the presence of any of those aspects...although Mohini-Charlie needed more screen time...ahh, the chemistry shines!!! ā¤ļø
PS: Maybe the sleep deprivation/tiredness influenced my judgement...but, I don't care cuz I'm feeling alright cuz its a nonsense ki night! š
