Opening Comparison:: Bang Bang vs Happy New Year

Bang Bang was released at approx 600 screens less than Happy New Year on a National Holiday for Hindi release.. Number of shows are almost same for both releases at many places and few beats Happy New Year as 3 hours length has effected a bit..

Comparing Opening occupancies Happy New Year leaves Bang Bang behind all circuits except East Punjab where occupancies are almost same. Its Mumbai where Happy New Year stands out as occupancies are around 85% for Happy New Year where as it was 63-65% for Bang Bang..

At mass centers Happy New Year leaves Bang Bang a way behind.. Happy new Year running at around 70% average while Bang Bang was 55-60%..

Overall Bang Bang had opened to around 70% where as Happy New Year has opened to around 80+% with 600 plus screens which is just excellent as it becomes difficult to get such huge occupancies with such huge screen count.

Shah Rukh Khan Is All Set To Break His Chennai Express Record

Earlier this year, Singham 2 took the best opening of the year with over 32 crore coming in. Now, it is certain that Happy New Year would comfortably surpass this mark. In fact, it won't be surprising if 35 crore is crossed, too. And if there is an opportunity for history to be created with a 40 crore day one, this film has it. There is unprecedented curiosity to check out the Shah Rukh Khan-Farah Khan affair. Deepika Padukone is on a career high. Abhishek Bachchan is coming across as good value add for the film, while Sonu Sood and Boman Irani bring on a reliability factor too. As for Vivaan Shah, he could surprise!

Opening Comparison:: Singham Returns and Happy New Year

Singham Returns is the biggest grosser of Day One of 2014. Movie was released on a National Holiday with huge screen count but still 300 screens less than Happy New Year. Movie had opened best in Mumbai circuit with occupancies around 70-75% but still fall short of Happy New Year which has opened to 82-85% opening in the circuit.

Happy New Year has almost same occupancies to Singham Returns at mass centers with 70-75% opening but at multiplexes Happy NEw Year leaves Singham Returns way behind with 85% to 60% difference..

Overall Singham Returns had opened to 64% Opening while Happy New Year has Opened to 80+% Opening.. Singham Returns had sustained that paces with around 70% occupancies throughout the day and went over 30cr day one and if Happy New Year maintains pace pace over 80% through out the day then 35+ day one is certain.
