Shahid Kapoor's "Haider" box office collection might be low, but performance wise it's doing better than Hrithik Roshan's "Bang Bang".

"Haider" was released in lesser number of screens and the makers of the film were not expecting the film to earn huge amount at the box office. But due to positive reviews, the film has maintained a very steady hold at the box office and on Sunday the collection went up by 15 to 20 percent.

On the other hand, "Bang Bang" being a big-budget film featuring Roshan and Katrina Kaif was expected to show a huge jump in it box office income on Sunday, but it failed to do so.

"Haider" in its opening weekend remained steady, but "Bang Bang" witnessed a drop on second and third day at the box office.

In four days, "Haider" earned 26.78 crore, which is more than the overall cost of the film.

On Thursday, it accumulated 6.14 crore, Friday 6.93 crore, Saturday 6.38 crore and Sunday7.33 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama.

Vishal Bhardwaj's directorial film has garnered praises from critics as well as audiences. The business of the film showed massive growth in regions such as Gujarat, Punjab and Rajasthan.

Trade experts believe that the collection would increase or remain steady in the weekdays, but it won't see much drop.

"On its opening day, "Haider" minted Rs.6.14 crore, and on the following day, it managed a business of Rs.6.93 crore, registering a 14 percent jump in its collections," a source from the production team, UTV Motion Pictures, told IANS.

"The film witnessed a huge jump in most of the regions, including Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan," the source added.

"'Haider' has collected over Rs.11 crore so far and it will grow through word of mouth," Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines, told IANS.

"'Haider' is doing decent business. The screens have been divided between both the films, but both the films are little long...If the films had medium or short length, they would have got more screens," Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts said.

"Haider" released on 2 October features Tabu, Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon and Shraddha Kapoor in key roles.

Well from what I have read and seen so far, Haider looks the real deal. So happy for Vishal ji, and Shahid and Tabu and Shraddha :)

Thanks to boycott Haider for making people more curious than they normally would be.

Thanks to the Dhoom 3 effect. If it looks larger than life. It must suck balls.

Awesome. 👏Gotta love when the underdog outperforms the larger than life juggernaut, HW or BW. Btw, is it me or are small budget movies doing a whole lot better than the 100 crore flicks this year? Only Kick did well out of the latter category. I think the audience is finally starting to show the middle finger to the mindless masala onslaught.😆

Yeah I've been meaning to watch that one. Apparently, it's good content wise also, rarity for the masala genre.😆
