Lol Hilarious post! Do you want me to post the box-office records of actresses, actors from the late-90's and early 2000's... go check kareena's kajol's, karishma's ,rani's records, they are zero without the heroes. Almost all the them have pretty much the same record at the box-office. And box-office india is not Oxford that everything they say 100% accurate. Taal was a clean hit ( was the first Indian film to make it to Top 10 of American box office) , so was HDAPH etc.She ruled the decade!
Chokher Bali was a clean hit. Ajay and Ash charged no money for Raincoat , was shot in 35 days... the budget was not more than 2 Crs. It made around 10 Crs. Same with Provoked. Bride and Prejudice made around 160 Crs ,unimaginable for any India actor.

And she won tremendous critical acclaim, internationally. No Indian actor has reached there yet!

Endhiran is India's biggest blockbuster...Raavanan was a superhit. Why don't you jealous people mention that?😡

She has left an indelible mark on all the industries she has worked. And has had successes in all of them. NO ONE HAS ACHIEVED THAT NOW!

Just keep burning..and yes I really cannot wait for Jazbaa. Would love to see the look on these burning jealous faces. 😆😆

Coming to facts, Aishwarya has never focused on being this huge box office star, her filmography attests to that. If she wanted to she could have had numerous BO blockbusters - she has turned down films like Troy and Hancock, the biggest Hollywood moneyspinners, n-number of Rajnikanth type blockbuster movies in the South and in Bollywood too, from her first offered film Raja Hindustani up until the point of the latest "big blockbuster" film Happy New Year, she has turned down them all and mostly tried doing risky, challenging cinema. Aishwarya's career never revolved around Bollywood alone. She has always strived to make a mark in different languages. I don't expect certain fans who live and breathe box office and count crores every day to get it. It's cinema first, business later.

She has done very few commercial films throughout her career. After a huge success like Devdas, she goes ahead and does a small film like Chokher Bali in Bengali. It was a hit at the BO, but let's pretend it does not exist. She does excellent cinema in the South too, and they were all box office hits as well (except for Iruvar, which won numerous awards), but let's pretend they never happened. Her film Provoked which was primarily a UK film did decent business and she got a hell lot of critical acclaim. Her film which rode on her shoulders alone (Bride and Prejudice) made a 150 crore even before this 100-crore concept existed, years before the Khans had their first 100 crore film.

She is not the most popular actress without reason. She has essayed iconic characters like Nandini, Mansi, Paro, Jodhaa, Binodini, and etched her place in audience's hearts. And to answer the question, whether it is the worst record for an actress, no. Madhuri Dixit has only around a dozen hits out of 70-odd films that she did. She didn't have success in English, South or Bengali cinema either. But that does not matter. How well you connected to the audience is what does, and that shows through their popularity. Asin did five films in Bollywood, four of them 100 crore blockbusters. Where is she now? That just reiterates the fact that it isn't box office that matters in the long run, but the impact you made through your films/performances. Ash swept all the best actress awards within the first two years of her career. How many actors do that? Of course BO success is important, but it's not the be-all and end-all of everything. There are far more important things and they have made Ash the icon that she is.

I will quote Anushka Sharma here.

Well said!
👍🏼

Jealous people can keep burning! 😎

Box office Records of

Priyanka:http://boxofficeindia.com/Star_Cast/actor_detail/priyanka_chopra/actor
Kareena:http://boxofficeindia.com/Star_Cast/actor_detail/kareena_kapoor/actor

Both have done almost double the number of films Ash did.

Then we have the 90's/older actresses:

Madhuri:http://boxofficeindia.com/Star_Cast/actor_detail/madhuri_dixit/actor
Kajol:http://boxofficeindia.com/Star_Cast/actor_detail/kajol/actor
Karishma:http://boxofficeindia.com/Star_Cast/actor_detail/preity_zinta

The scene is the similar for all the actresses from that period.

Don't bther some people here are hell-bent on proving that Ash has the worst record 😆 In my opinion Bride and Prejudice is probably the biggest milestone a Bollywood actress could ever have. The movie made TRIPLE its profits with 160 crores - which was UNHEARD of back in 2004!

And yet she is still sought after, people still care, she knows how tog generate hype and every top director still wants to work with her. I love how ppl are so quick to credit all flops to actresses, but the hits only belong to actors. Not just her, but the general attitude everyone has. Even if her film has a huge opening and still flops--no one will ever say she has BO appeal or star power.

I could care less. I'm more than impressed with her filmogrpahy. Raincoat and Choker Bali may be flops, but I rather see my favorite do changing roles like that--parts that made me proud to be her fan then a flowerpot role for the sake of a hit. She even got a massive role in Robot--a clear Ranikant film b/c the director made trust in her. Oh well, bring on Jazba--but then again if that film does well I'm sure everyone will be credit John and Irfan--and not Aish.

Oh well, I still love her.

This forum is filled with jealous people. If she had the worst record why would directors bother casting her again and again and again? Even now when she has done no movies for the past 5 yrs, she gets offers from Farah Khan (HNY) ,Rohit Shetty, Ashutosh Gowariker.. Are they insane?

Bride and Prejudice is the biggest milestone for any actor who does not belong to hollywood. And it was just her debut, can you believe it? Cast anyone from the Khans to all the top actresses, that would still have been impossible that too in 2004. What do haters have to say about that now?
