Bang Bang Music Review: Short, sleek, Superhit!

Expectations: With its teaser going viral, Bang Bang, the official remake of 2010 Hollywood film Knight and Day is currently the talk of the town. Everything about the film seems to be grand-be it the scale, the cast or the film's music. The song promos when released turned out to be instant hit such is the craze for the film.

The combo of Vishal-Shekhar and Siddharth Anand has given some great numbers in each of their last three outings-Salaam Namaste, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Anjaana Anjaani and this time around too there are huge expectations from the composer duo. Since, the film is a masala action romance, there is enough scope and requirement for a stellar music album which will set the things nicely up for movie to open really big.

The Truth: There are five tracks in the album including a reprise version by Shekhar. The target audience, understandably is youth. Instead of quantity, the V-S duo has focussed mainly on the quality and to be fair, they have succeeded too. The lyricists (Vishal Dadlani, Anvita Dutt & Kumaar) too have done a decent and the choice of singers for each track is near perfect. All in all, a fantastic album considering the mood and setting of the film.

Top Picks:

• Tu Meri: The first track to be released by the makers of the film,Tu meri is a nice peppy dance number sung beautifully by Vishal Dadlani himself. The track is high on energy and has some decent lyrics. One has to say here that finally, Vishal has started utilizing his singing skills to greater effects and one just hopes he keeps doing so because there is something about his voice which not many people possess. However,one thing that makes it even more appealing is Hrithik's fabulous dancing skills and his sizzling chemistry with the leading lady, Katrina. All in all, a fine way to start the proceedings.. #HIT !

• Meherbaan (Both versions): Now that's what you call a perfect romantic number. With meherbaan, Vishal & Shekhar have revived the memories of Khuda Jaane (Bachna Ae Haseeno) which remains the duo's one of the best compositions even today. Ash King along with Shilpa Rao has done a wonderful job behind the mics. Both the singers have made this track their own and it is very difficult to imagine someone else in their shoes. The lyrics are well written while the tune is very fresh and breezy. The reprise version sung by Shekhar Ravjiani is a treat and a classic example of how a reprise version should ideally be. If you are looking for some soothing romantic number,then Meherbaan is that perfect song.. #GoForIt

• Uff: Yet another cute, peppy romantic number in the melodious voice of Harshdeep Kaur and Benny Dayal. It is such a beautiful song that you are tempted to press the repeat button minutes into the song. It feels good to see Benny singing something other than those over the top massy numbers while Harshdeep's voice is a pure delight whatever be the mood of the song and same is the case here too. The lyrics are crisp and light-hearted while the tune is extremely catchy and addictive. A beautiful number indeed! #Gorgeous!

• Bang Bang: The much awaited title track of the film too is a classy number. A catchy dance number sung very well by Benny Dayal and Neeti Mohan has been made even more aappealing and popular by Hrithik and Katrina's sizzling dance moves. Hrithik in particular, has come out all guns blazing and paid a fitting tribute to his idol and God of Dance MJ by performing some of the never seen before dance moves in the Bollywood. Lyrically it is just decent but it's a visual treat and one expects it to climb the popularity charts in the days to come quite rapidly.. #Classy!

Hard Talk: Talking about the music album of Bang Bang, Vishal-Shekhar have delivered a soundtrack which is extremely classy. Unlike other Bollywood masala enertainers, the music isn't too much massy. Moreover, except for Meherbaan, there isn't much soul or substance in the album. One just feels, one more slow romantic number could have taken this album to an altogether different level.

Final Verdict: To be precise, the music album of Bang Bang is short, simple and classy. Although, there are just five tracks in the album, but what stands out is the pure quality and class. Each and every track is a nice little gem in itself and that is what makes this album such a valued package. With Bang Bang Vishal-Shekhar have proved their worth and class all over again, in the process showing why they are rated so highly in the music industry...
