Ajay Devgn explains why he couldn't do "Bajirao Mastani

Ajay Devgn has won hearts once again with his character as "Bajirao Singham" in Rohit Shetty's "Singham Returns". After playing the character of Bajirao in one movie, the actor was also offered to play the same character name in a different project, but things didn't work out.

The actor was offered to play Bajirao in Sanajy Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani", but he says they "couldn't agree on the terms and conditions".

According to DNA, Ajay said that he was offered to play the lead role in the movie but they couldn't agree on the terms and conditions which were dates and money.

It is said that the filmmaker wanted 200 days at a stretch from the actor, and the latter was not OK with that as next year he will begin shooting for his directorial venture "Shivay".

"Bajirao Mastani" will see Ranveer Singh essay Peshwa Baji Rao and Deepika Padukone will play his love interest

sab jhooth...he must have gotten a whiff of the huge budget of BM and would have realized that no one in BW right now can make this movie a HIT🤪

Also SLB is one greedy dude thats why he's after newbies nowadays... They will take whatever he's offering to work with him.

Because he is old dude. Baji Rao died by the time he was 40 or something? Ajay must have wikki'ed 😉. He is way older than 40. Kaisa Buda Baji Rao older than the actual age the person he will be playing lived? Kuch tho accurate hona chayiye...😆

It would have worked during HDDCS time, but then SLB's Baji Rao was a different person..😛

There was much talk of Sanjay Leela Bhansali approaching Ajay Devgn for the character of Bajirao in his magnum opus, Bajirao Mastani'. However, the final casting saw Ranveer Singh step into that role. Devgn admits he was offered the role and says he refused it as they could not agree on terms and conditions.
"I was approached for the lead role but we couldn't agree on the terms and conditions... dates, money everything... What is wrong about admitting that we couldn't agree on the T&C? (terms and conditions) Let's be honest about that," Devgn told DNA India.
It can be noted that Bajirao Mastani' was originally written over a decade ago with Bhansali hoping to sign Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rani Mukerji in the lead roles. Due to a number of reasons, the film never took off despite many attempts from the filmmaker and many speculated changes in the cast.
Bajirao Mastani' now stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. The film will be releasing in the Christmas 2015 period.
