I think the closest person Ranveer Singh reminds me off is The Situation. In the Chings video he looks like The Situation wore Snooki's Halloween outfit.

Oh please. Johnny Depp is an icon and he did it by being quirky, strange, insane whatever and marching to his own drum beat. His films are classics, even masterpieces of cinema. If Ranveer follows in his footsteps in any way, it will be nothing but an asset to BW.

BW would be lucky to get anyone resembling Johnny Depp. Not vice versa.

Seriously i don't get all this unnecessary hate for him.

It's not hate. It's just irritating when you see a guy who's got such a huge chance in life of being an actor ( log dhakke khaa rahein hote hain Bombay mein ) and then you act dumb and irritating by copying Hollywood and thinking that you're such a trend setter. He just looks weird. It's not even amusing anymore.
