'Singham Returns' has overtaken Salman Khan-starrer 'Kick' to emerge as the biggest opener of 2014 with box office collections of around Rs 30 crore.

Ajay Devgn-starrer 'Singham Returns', which was released on the Independence Day, has seen better box office collections than 'Kick' a opening day is concerned as per early trends, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The final collections figure of 'Singham Returns' on Day 1, however, is yet to be disclosed.

It may be mentioned that 'Kick' had made a roaring start in box office collections with an estimated Rs 26.40 crore on a non-holiday (pre-Eid).

'Kick' broke the 2014 opening day collection record of Salman's last film 'Jai Ho', which released on January 24 this year, Gunday's (Feb 14) Rs 16.12 crore and 2 States' (April 18) Rs 12.42 crore.

If comparison is made between Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan on Independence Day releases, the later wins. Salman's 'Ek Tha Tiger' (15th August, 2012) opened with Rs 32.93 crore.

The much-awaited 'Singham Returns', which brings the unbeatable Rohit Shetty-Ajay Devgn combination together, had a thunderous start across single screens and a solid start at multiplexes.

With the 15 August being a national holiday, the film was expected to witness strong footfalls across cineplexes all through the day.

While 'Singhham Returns' was released on over 4,000 screens worldwide, including 3,600 screens in India.

The advance booking of the film was more than encouraging in several circuits and going by trends, the film should pack a solid total over the weekend.

'Singham Returns', which is a sequel to 2011 hit film 'Singham', is directed by Rohit Shetty and has been promoted well by the two leads, Kareena Kapoor and Devgn.

'Singham Returns' special song, 'Ata Majhi Satakli' by Yo Yo Honey Singh has already grabbed the attention for Kareena's dance with 100 other kids dressed as cops.

While Devgn plays supercop Bajirao Singham fighting crime, his onscreen lady-love Kareena adds some comedy to the film balancing perfectly between action, anger, drama, love and laughter.

Waiting for that 1 FULL HOliday release for Salman, last it came for BodyGuard & rest is history, massive 21 Cr opening, If Bajrangi Bhaijaan comes on EID Day 1 friday, 40+ Cr ki opening bhi Bhai hi layega... same with HNY if it comes on 2nd Diwali day Vishwakarma day holiday.

holiday release only opening records ke liye hai it doesn't effect lifetime collection jise dekhna hota hai pure run me dekh hi leta hai😕 records toh banenge hi yaar market size is increasing day by day just imagine agar only 10% population theatres me dekhne lage😆

Now that Bebo got that big commercia hit she wanted,hopefully she will concentrate of selecting good scripts which do justice to the actress in her.

Every year this is gonna happen. The moment a biggie on a big day which can block 4500 screens.. or may be 😆5000 in next year..

Its all about the right type of the film with solo holiday release easily create records star power and promotion is just abonus factor
