I was also saying the same, he wanted India vs Pakistan match in climax, while adi wanted India to beat Australia.

Also, this article stating reason is not the actual reason. Salman wanted final match of women's hockey between India / Pakistan, so that from where film started, it should have ended there. But with Adi, something didn't worked out.

Inter-Hockey competition ya WC...the film was about an underdog women's team making a name for themselves, proving everyone wrong in the process. World level pe karein ya domestic, end goal was the same. It was also about the Muslim man fighting for redemption. He just needed to remind everyone of his loyalty and patriotism.

Making the last match India/Pakistan makes the film about India and Pakistan and takes focus away from the main point IMHO.

Why Salman Khan Rejected 'Chak De India' ?

Salman Khan had a remarkable comeback with Tere Naam in 2003 and all those who were questioning his box-office status became quiet. He further consolidated his standing with hits like Mujhse Shaadi Karodi, Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya and No Entry. During that time, Aditya Chopra was expanding Yash Raj productions big time and he was on a golden run with successes like Bunty Aur Babli, Salaam Namaste, Veer Zaara, Dhoom and Hum Tum behind him. Aditya planned 'Chak De! India' with Shimit Amin who was fresh with the stupendous acclaim for his debut directorial venture 'Ab Tak Chappan'. Chak De was written by Jaideep Sahni and it was based on Indian women hockey triumph. As Salman and Yash Raj Productions had never worked together, Aditya was very keen to have Salman playing the main lead 'Kabir Khan' in the movie. Repeated meetings and talks happened between the two parties but they both could not come on common terms with each other.

Salman wanted a different climax for the movie. He believed that since the character has lost everything in a match against Pakistan, the final match of the team that he will coach should be against Pakistan only. This, as per him, would complete the story of the character in a full circle. But Adi was adamant on keeping the pre-written version where the finale happens against Australia because this will look real and also they were having no intentions to touch sensitive relationship India has with its neighboring country. After Salman opted out, Shah Rukh Khan agreed to do the movie and 'Chak De! India' became a milestone in Indian Cinema as well as in SRK's career. Eventually Salman Khan and Aditya Chopra worked together in 2012's biggest hit 'Ek Tha Tiger'. Apparently, 'Ek Tha Tiger' was banned in Pakistan and did not release there because of provoking content present in trailor of the movie.

It was Kabir Khan's fight against Injustice done to him as a Muslim, which he got while training Women's underdog Hockey team. The match which brought him bad name, Salman wanted the same match in climax for Kabir Khan to win back his name with full respect.

It's Ironic, Aditya Chopra earlier didn't want issue with Pakistan by having final match in CDI, while he himself wrote the story of ETT, which got banned in Pakistan.

For a Srk film, he didn't take the risk, while made 1st film with Salman which got banned in Pakistan.

SRK is damn lucky .Even for Baazigar when Salman was offered the movie the character was suppose to be completely negative and there was no mother angle .
Talking about this incident, Salman says, "I had refused Baazigar. When Abbas-Mustan came to me with the script, I asked my dad for his inputs. He felt that since it's a story of a negative character they should add an angle of the mother in it. They didn't agree. When I turned down the film, they went to Shah Rukh and then they added the mother angle! But I don't regret it at all."

Every Actor has rejected films which have become Huge hits further... so what's so big deal if Salman didn't wanted 2 do CDI?

Aamir rejected Darr, another Srk biggie... Srk rejected Lagaan, Munnabhai, 3 Idiots, all 3 big big films... Hrithik has turned down Bunty aur Babli, he rejected Saif's role in DCH, even rejected Swades...

Another surprise, Akshay Kumar was given debut in Phool aur Kaante, which he refused went to Ajay devgn.

Does that make them any less? So why pointing at Salman?
