I personally went to watch HSKD for Alia and my friend went for timepass because the posters were kinda good and interesting + KJo film. MTH got hit because of the peppy songs and DD. Neither Sid nor Varun have enough star power to make the film hit

If Shraddha is nothing then why Aashiqui 2 became such a huge Superhit film? Alia may have given back 2 back Hits, but don't give her that much credit, HIGHWAY was solely based on Her, Ghantaa ni hua film ka, ppl won't even know ke Highway naam ki film aayi bhi aur chali bhi gayi. So if Alia was reason for 2 States / HSKD success, then how come Highway tanked?
