There was an article which stated he agreed to do a nude scene for the movie when he first lands on Earth. And from there they extended it to the posters. Not sure how much of it is true. Just going by what I recalled. So more or less, poster has a lot to do with the movie and it's content, at the same time it caught everyone's eyeballs. So yeh sounds like one successful campaign...
