BOI is a joke. Check all their archives. Every 7-8 months they change verdicts of films! Downgrade some film, upgrade the other. Even those who are not BO aficionados have remarked at their discrepancies especially in old films' verdicts. Hrithik having equal or more BBs than Amitabh is a big joke!

Most new film blogs also make up their own analysis and downgrade old stars and films.

Salim Khan had once said that stars like Amitabh Bachchan are born only once. From common man to industry biggies, all know the truth of who the biggest was regardless of few online portals.

BOI is never worth following...they will always remain unofficial source...Taran Adarsh is widely followed and considered official followed by Komal Nahta...I think BOI exist for ppl like us (IF members)...

This site is shit u can't declare a movie BB OR ATBB on just their box office performance when only 2% indians watch movies in theatres..they should also consider their tv popularity, craze among ppl after few years of release etc.

For me CDI, HeraPheri, RDB, TZP are also blockbusters!!

Never heard of this movie Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974). And it was a BB. Amitabh Bachchan's only 4 BB's are the proof that when we feel nostalgic we make the bubble as big as a hippo. Just like a few people think Madhubala was a great actor.

A lot of revisionist history going on here.

Big B is one of the biggest stars ever, but he usually succeeded in those "Angry Young Man," avatar and rest were 2-hero projects. If you really want to talk of starpower and audience pull, Rajesh Khanna is the single greatest BO phenomenon in the history of Bollywood.

If you want to talk about BO only, Rajesh Khanna > Salman Khan > Shahrukh Khan > Dharmendra > Dilip Kumar > AB Snr. > Aamir Khan.

Also, Salman has the biggest Hits of the year for 8 years. That's a record. Dilip Kumar is a notch below Salman with 6 or 7 iirc.

Check out old articles on him. He was crowned one man industry in his prime itself. He never got this fame only later out of nostalgia.

Years ago an analysis of top BO stars was done on NDTV. Amitabh was second only to Dilip Kumar.

It is simply revisionism being done here to undermine past stars.
