Mumbai: Kareena Kapoor says her actor husband Saif Ali Khan is not comfortable doing a slapstick comedy like 'Humshakals'.
Kareena, 33, thinks Saif is a "brilliant actor" who has taken cinema forward.

"I haven't seen the film (Humshakals) yet. Of course he made a mistake and he feels that, because people don't like to see him in that space as he has given such wonderful performances in films like 'Omkara', 'Parineeta' and others. He has done films that have been path breaking. Saif is one actor who has taken cinema ahead," Kareena said.

Sajid Khan's recently released 'Humshakals' received flak both from the critics and the public. Saif, who was one of the lead actors in the film, also admitted that he had made a mistake by doing 'Humshakals'.

"He is such a brilliant actor. So, may be some people thought they did not want to see him in this kind of genre. You can see another actor in this genre but not see someone like Saif. So in that sense he thought it was a mistake," she said.

Kareena too has done comedy films like the 'Golmaal' series, but she says those were not slapstick and they had strong story.
Kareena is now looking forward to the release of Rohit Shetty's 'Singham Returns'.

Oh please! He desperately needed a hit that's why he did the film. After husband now even bimbo is dissing the film. You cant buy class with money!

Golmaal was not slapstick comedy? Of course it was such an intelligent comedy. 🤪

Agree he excel even without having fan following through versatile acting dil chahata hai hum tum salam namste omkara bulet raja all are differant yet impactful role.

Okay she reasons well here about Kamakals but still not right to diss the movie when Garib Nawab read the script before taking up the role. When one does that, they should be ready to take the flak if the film doesn't work.

The Golmaal has strong story, well thats news to me..

I wouldn't say he's taken cinema anywhere. He was never a pathbreaker. I think Shyam Benegal, Satyajit Ray, Smita Patil, Nasseudein Shah, Nandita Das, Tabu, etc have taken cinema far. Saif HAD carved a really good niche for him being did roles like EK Hasina Thi, BC, DCH, Omkara, etc. But I would never compare his body of work to any of the ones mentioned above b/c it was never ground breaking work. It was def hatke and he took risks and experimented but I thought Pinjar was always a really good eye-opening movie that never got its due or My Brother Nikhil.
