When it comes to box office collections, does the heroine matter?

KRK said in his review that Kick will suffer due to not having an A-list actress; do you agree with this?

Does the star power of an actress make a difference?

Depends.

Yes the leading actress does matter, she has to be attractive and either a good dancer, actress or both. . She has to have a fan base prior to the film so her name can attract attention aswell.

Not just looks either because there have been very attractive actresses but failed to garner much attention. Either because they are not good actresses or restricted because there was not much dialogue or screen time in the film. Or the film badly executed.

Either that or she's is known outside of Bollywood. A famous model, or pageant winner etc. eg. Aishwaryia and Priyanka Chopra where people were prepared for them to enter Bollywood and a fan base of theirs already existed prior to them making films.

hard to tell really but on an individual basis.

Kick won't suffer. It will make more than ETT and CE for sure! And it might challenging dhoom 3 collections too.

Jacky doesn't have star power like katrina kaif but she's still really good looking and great dance and have strong screen presence so kick will get big numbers. Heroine needs to be good.

Of course Katrina Kaif holds a lot of star power, probably only heroine who has potential to bring money but that doesn't mean a movie won't do well of it doesn't have katrina deepika Kareena priyanka. Like I said if heroine is good then the movie will do well.

i think he has a point here but i think likes of kat depika add atleast 20 25 cr in the movie

I think it depends on the movie and the actress.

For example, If you put ANYONE else in 3 Idiots...Im sure they movie would have faired the same.

However, if you take Katrina out of ETT - the movie would still be a success, but not AS huge.

If it stars the Khans (especially Salman) it really doesn't. And I guess if it stars Rajnikant--it doesn't either.

All other cases, it's a combo of the pair, the chemistry, and music+script+direction+acting playing its part.

The only time the leading lady matters is when it's Katrina. I actually ever understood her star power until I saw Dhoom 3 in theaters in India. The level of cheers, applauds, cat-calls she got in her entry...I've never seen that like ever. My mom was there too and she said in her memory Sri Devi and Madhuri used to get that level of love/appreciation/male attention..or whatever else you wanna call it.
