Mother tongue is Punjabi. Growing up, we weren't allowed to speak in English at home. My parents even sent us to Sunday school (at a Gurudwara) to straighten our Punjabi. 😆 My brother's Punjabi/Hindi sucks. I learned Urdu because I grew up with Pakistanis. Learned Hindi from TV/films.

Is Kashmiri a mix of Urdu/Hindi? Or is it a completely different language like the South Indian languages?

Its totally different but it has little bit of Persian influence!

LOL. I believe most of the people on IF live outside of India/SEA.

The eastern portion of Bengal and parts of Assam are today's Bangladesh. Seems like Bengalis and Assamese are flooding in IF. So many Bengali speaking members. 🥳

Hindi...although since I am from Lucknow ...its Hindi/Urdu mix...
I just love Punjabi language...I wish I could talk in Punjabi.

It is a Rajput-Kangra dialect which sounds like a cross between Marwari & Punjabi. 😆


More than a separate language, it is the voice that deepens... I've no idea how to speak it though. 😆
