Its not as though Mahesh Bhatt paid KJO to take her in his films. She got the movie fair and square and then Imtiaz saw the same spark in her for Highway.

Those other 400 girls were just not good enough and that's a fact! Karan Johar is one the most intelligent people in the business and he KNOWS what works and what doesn't. He is like the god of Bollywood, everything he touches turns into gold, and Alia is a fine example of that!
