Kahaani was good throughout ... from beginning to end .. simply wonderful

@bold - exactly. even I was able to guess it.
whereas Kahaani.. the thought did not cross my mind. rather I was worried for Vidya. the build up was so good in kahaani. screenplay & whole cast. 👍🏼 full marks.
and the end look.. 👏 Vidya stole the show.

Kahaani.

What Talaash lacked was a gripping narrative that would make the audience keep guessing the climax at every turning point of the movie, which Kahaani managed to do. I also liked the editing of Kahaani more than Talaash and I have always felt that apart from Sujoy's direction, it was the editing that made Kahaani so tight and thrilling to watch. The scenes, the way the flashback is shown,etc..everything was perfect in Kahaani IMO.

I loved both of them. But if armtwisted to pick one, I'll go with Kahani- I loved the way they tied it up with the whole concept of Durga Maa/Durga Puja in the end. Brilliantly done.

Also Kahani had no songs- the narrative was crisp and the story moved quickly. I prefer thrillers without songs (though the songs of Talash are bea-utiful!) or when the songs are going on in the background and something important is happening along with it.

Kahani was an edge of the seat thriller, it gives you engrossed every single minute.

@green - yes. I agree. in Kahaani, every scene, every character made sense. theme, story, from start to end - brilliantly tied.
like you said.. an edge thriller. songs/lyrics added the flavor without being distracting & carried the story ahead. Kolkata was explored beautifully. 👏 Kahaani stands my favorite suspense thriller till I see something similar in terms of quality.

Kahaani, the twist was unexpected.

In Talash I figured out in he first few scenes that Kareena was a ghost lol

I share your sentiment. talaash definitely pales in comparison to Kahaani but to come to know someone liked it more than Kahaani was surprising and so I thought, if there are more cases like it.

agree SB. specially bold part. editing takes the cake. crisp, tight & gripping. you are glued to seat & eyes on screen till you know it's end. and that makes you gasp (I actually heard people gasp in surprise) & clap for the brilliance.

I liked both tbh..Kahaani of course was the better written film and did justice to the genre it belonged to ( suspense thriller)..I wouldn't even call Talaash a thriller 😆 The suspense was predictable and since it sorta belonged to the supernatural genre, a lot of ppl failed to connect with it..But it had those moments of brilliance which sorta compensated for the lack of suspense IMO..That scene where Aamir retrospects and imagines all the things he could have done to save his son, the one where he just looks at Kareena for one whole minute ( i particularly love this one cos it was so subtle and they din resort to any dialogues or melodramatic bgms..The writing & the acting did all the talking), the one where Rani loses her patience & confronts Aamir( she was brilliant here) & all those scenes where Nawaz was present( such a kickass actor..Its one of his best performances IMO)..And yes, i think its one of Kareena's best performances too..She is normally accused of being OTT but she nailed Rosy and managed to do it in the most understated manner possible..Of course, Kahaani is in a league of its own..I remember being awestruck seeing the climax cos i just din see it coming..It was such a well made film..The pace, the setting, the performances-Bang on..And Vidhya was phenomenal..Brilliant brilliant performance..There are very few actors who have a good dialogue delivery in Bollywood and VB is one of them..Her dialogue delivery & voice modulation was top notch in this film ⭐️ Shit, i have written an essay 😆 To cut the long story short, i like both the films but if i had to choose, i'l go with Kahaani 😆
