3.) She has no film background or connections. She is someone who came from a simple middle class background and took India by storm. Her achievements far outnumber any actress' achievements in the history of Indian superstardom. This meant quite a lot of catty comments from industry kids like Kareena, who had it all but could not achieve enough of what Ash did. Naturally Kareena's fans would emulate her (not all of course, there are some good Kareena fans too)

4.) If only she readily accepted the abuse Salman gave her and kept silent, if only she didn't make a fuss about being dumped in the middle of a film by Shah Rukh Khan without providing an explanation, if only she did not refuse to do a film with Aamir just because they didn't give her the script and asked her to sign it because "why do you need the script? It's an Aamir film anyway". If only she forgot the fact that Rani is a backstabber and gave more importance to a film than her friendship, and continued friendship with her. If only... she would have seen a lot less hate.

But that would mean compromising on her dignity, her values. She has never spoken badly about a single actress even when she was provoked to do so, that speaks a lot about her upbringing.

Yes, she might be guarded and reserved, but she was very open in the beginning and saw how the industry exploited her, so she decided to keep her private life strictly private.

The kind of reasons being posted here for disliking her - "dont find her most beautiful", "she thinks she's the best person out there" and other frivolous reasons and yet following her life and career like no other goes to show some double standards. Anyhow, to each their own.

Acting without the Khans is a rather curious argument. The Bollywood films that gave her a headstart were with Khans. The one that got her international attention as a movie star was with a Khan.

Ash didn't stop making movies after marriage. She got married in 2007 which was in the middle of making Jodhaa Akbar. She made movies thru 2010 then she got pregnant.

some my quick points..

1. yes she is well known internationally , yes maybe more than trio khans, but i don't really think the khans give a rat ass. i as a shah rukh khan...don't think its a big deal that you are known internationally; i always said, if you are not a hit on your home turf, nobody cares how hit you are in pardes. and yes...i apply this rule to shah as well, thats why i say make the movie hit at home first.

2. She does not have filmy connection, but she does have miss world title, face , god blessed her with worlds most beautiful face.😆and there is bhansali, who really knows how to use this perfect face.

3.she does not spare backstabbers, yet i found her a big backstabber - using and abusing vivek? deadly stabbing there.😆and for what...no, its not that she fell deeply in love with abhishek. don't think so. she comes across as the biggest manipulator...maybe she is not in real, but i smell from here.😆

4. its not rani's fault that shah replaced her. blame should go to both bhai and ash. what can anybody do, if one drunkard chases his lover in broad daylight ...on movie sets. that's considered unhealthy and DANGEROUS. and one should distance from such dramas asap, let them solve their problems.

5. AND yes, she is a bigger star than both rani and preity...and no i am not talking about acting...talking about STAR; more powerful than both rani and preity any given day.

7. and yes, she was never a flowerpot in her movies. whether she did justice or not, thats another story. always on par with her male co-stars.

8. yes, even tho i find her acting cringe-worthy, like at imes i feel she really sucks ... but when i see her walking on red carpet and winning against all, it makes me feel good. good for an indian beauty. i loved when she came and nailed it, even those extra extra pounds.

9. and yes, her comeback (i seriously am not looking forward to)will be bigger than rani, kajol, preitys.

10. and no, she is not bigger than khans. stood mighty? really?...don't know. if she was that mighty, khans could have made adjustments. but no. she had 2 of her biggest hits with shah rukh, but she also had hits with hritik, not to forget hddcs with bhai.

AND last but not least...YES, she carries herself better than motto mouth kareena kapoor, especially when it comes to W#F comments. yes, i have never seen her publicly humiliating other actresses, or taking digs at other actresses. that much gotta give it to her.

but i don' t like her acting...thats all. she is very very beautiful..no denying.

so i dislike ash's acting...

1.) And thanks Bri for numbering them.. you made it easy :)



1.) While I do agree that Khans concentrate on India more, I don't think they don't care about abroad at all. I know Shahrukh does, Aamir does. Salman not so much may be. But SRKs and Aamirs crave for international attention and adulation, like most of our stars would. SRK would readily go to Germany, Malaysia, France to accept honours, and Aamir will never attend a single award show in India but will run to attend Oscars when he was invited. So yes, international fame matters to them IMO.



2.) Yes she has the Miss World title. But she was not born with it. She had to earn it. She was chosen from hundreds of girls in India to be Miss India World like any other Miss India would. And out of 86 such best Miss World contestants from across the world, she won the crown. And not just for her beauty mind you, her grace, her brains and her traditional values mesmerized the judges [You should watch the Miss World final answer speech, I am telling you this. Any other girl who would have spoken those words would have won the crown, even if she was 1/10th of a beauty that Ash is]. Lesser known fact is she won the Best Miss World of all time as well.



3.) I truly think she fell for Abhishek. If you watch Simi's Rendezvous aired in 1998, she describes some qualities that should be in her man, Abhishek fits perfectly to those attributes. Manipulator? Well. She was proposed by billionaire, inventor of Hotmail Sabir Bhatia, Abhishek won't be able to earn that amount in his ten lives. She had the biggest industrialists falling at her feet, yet she chose a relatively moderately rich husband to marry. Bachchans were in great debt just a decade ago, you never know when that might relapse.



4.) Blame should go to the one that caused the ruckus - Agreed. But there is always a dignified way of doing things. To be honest, Chalte Chalte was not a very big film, she had worked in bigger magnum opuses before. If Shahrukh had explained his problem she would have stepped away voluntarily. But the way the whole thing was dealt with was tasteless and cheap. SRK apologized much later and Aishwarya did accept it and they are okay with each other now. Rani never accepted her fault (explained in the previous page). It was not a fault actually, she just chose career over friendship and chose to be upapologetic about it. Ash got the real picture and was fine with it and moved on as well.



8.) She has done bad movies and has given some bad/forgettable performances, I agree with you. On the red carpet too she has made quite a few blunders, no disputing that. But she has had her shining moments of glory too, both on the carpet and onscreen.



10.) I didn't say she stood mighty. I said she stood up against the mighty Khans. Khans were, are and will always be bigger than any other actress, at least in India. That's how our film industry works, it is way too male dominated.



And you are free to dislike anything about her, I have my likes and dislikes too. But one cannot deny the fact that she must have had some amount of merit in her for the likes of Bhansali, Mani Ratnam, Ashutosh Gowariker and Rituparno Ghosh to cast her in their movies again and again. She couldn't have won the extent of critical acclaim, awards, honours and people's love... on this very forum people who dislike her off screen love her as an actress. If it was all beauty and nothing else, she would have been a Dia Mirza (another gorgeous lady). But that wasn't the case, was it?
