I think they wrote this article because the protagonist in both shows have life threatening illnesses. Maybe that's what got them to think it was based on Breaking Bad. But from your synopsis, it doesn't seem like it.

Who knows...maybe the promo is designed in a way that it doesn't look like Breaking Bad.😆
