Sajid Khan clashes with residents of his housing complex over the installation of CCTV cameras

It seems that Sajid Khan loves tamasha, both on and off screen. The 'Humshakals' director was recently at the centre of a fracas in his residential complex, Beach House. Sajid lives on the building's top floor and when the managing committee of the apartment complex in Juhu decided to install CCTV cameras on every floor and in the lifts, the writer-director put up a loud protest against the 24x7 surveillance.

His fellow residents who had been demanding cameras for nearly a year for security reasons were shocked at Sajid's aggressive stance. Said a resident said, "When he first saw the CCTV cameras, Sajid covered the one in the lift with a newspaper taped to it."

He then categorically told the building authorities that the camera on his floor will have to be taken out at any cost. Mirror spoke to four residents of the building who on request of anonymity, confirmed the same, saying that Sajid was definitely not in favour of the cameras and let it known.

Argued a resident, "His stance was unjustified because Sajid doesn't occupy the entire floor, what about the safety of his immediate neighbour?" Another resident echoed his words saying what we had heard was true "but please leave me alone, I don't want to go on record on this".

A third resident added, "This is a personal matter concerning our building. Yeah, Sajid did have issues about the cameras but thankfully, it's all sorted now. There were other residents who agreed with Sajid too. In a democracy everybody has the right to voice his opinion strongly."

Mirror has it that Sajid also objected to music playing in the elevator whenever the lift door was left open. "He wanted different, softer music. How will we know that the door is open and on which floor if the music is not loud enough?" reasoned an irate resident.

Last heard, Sajid had no option but to relent when a board meeting was held to drill sense into him that safety is of paramount importance and the society has no intention of intruding into anybody's privacy. When we contacted Sajid, he was in denial and said, "Nothing of this sort happened."
