Yes they can.

Especially when they get cheap, abusive and harass others. Trolling, vulgar language and personal attacks are a bitter experience and ruin how you view the actor and his/her work.

Every single time I have liked an actor it is because they have done something to impress me on screen. Sometimes I only like the performance and rave about it like PC in Barfi or Sonakshi in Lootera. Others I am on the bandwagon (!!) like Alia. I have also climbed off the bandwagon like I did for Vidya. I have also liked SRK, Salman, Kajol since I was a kid. I discovered Raj Kapoor long after he was dead, I like him a lot too.

I have tried to learn to listen to others opinions instead of being rigid. The operative word here being tried. If someone likes an actor I like and dislikes another actor I like, I am interested in their POV, but at the end of the day I know we both cannot influence each other. We like who we like and what we like.

If I ever dislike an actor, it will be because of something they did, not because of others. I need to feel both the like and dislike. I am too arrogant to rely on my own opinion 😳 to have a bunch of people's behavior change my like or dislike of someone, especially i pay money to see them on screen.

I agree with trolling, vulgar language and personal attacks are annoying and can ruin a message board experience. But why should a star who does not know these people exist as his/her fans be associated with them to ruin the experience ? If you like or dislike someone shouldn't it be for them as in work or even their personal behavior ? I can't understand associating them with crazy behavior of people who like them to influence your likes and dislikes.
