Box Office Prediction: Ek Villain Sure To Take A Great Opening

One film which has managed to see sustained hype, momentum and buzz going for it with every passing week is Ek Villain. The first teaser did the trick, songs caught on well with Galliyaan topping the charts and once theatrical promo of the Mohit Suri directed film was released, there was no looking back. Some excellent marketing and promotion by Balaji has ensured that the film is pretty much awaited by audience, hence making it red hot in trade and industry as well.

All of this means that the film is set to take an opening of around 60%-70% with high end multiplexes collecting even better on Day One. Even though the film has an adult theme, it hasn't dampened enthusiasm amongst exhibitors who are expecting good footfalls from the very first show. The starcast comprising of Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh and Shraddha Kapoor has generated good interest too and constant intrigue around the real villain has meant that the film has peaked at just the right time.

By the look of things, Ek Villain is all set to be the highest opening film ever for Mohit Suri and it won't be surprising if it achieves first day of over 10 crore.

Q. There are expectations of a 100 crore film from Ek Villian but is this is realistic as the film does not have any stars?

Ans. 100 crore is not a big number today. The opening of Ek Villian will give it a chance if it has the content. The film is aimed at the youth and promos and music have worked it will start well but its all how about how well you can sustain and for how long. The expectations are just media built, writers expect some numbers be it 100, 200 or 300 and when the actual is lower than their expectations they call that number excellent as well. These sort of expecatations do not help the film in any way because normally they are at the top end of what a film can do.

EV is releasing at Very Bad time... coz this movie need SOLO Release, but now we are having heavy releases from regional as well holly films.

Now from Sunday, Ramadan will start... It is very tough task for EV 2 reach 100 cr... even shows are less in premium multiplexes coz of less screens.

^^ I think it will. Because what I have observed, all of my friends have pre-booked their tickets and there is a huge buzz about the film.

Mark my words, it will reach 100 Crores, if the content clicks.

For 100 Cr, u need at least 10 shows per premium multiplexes to give extra boom in collection, as per trends. Here Shows are in 5-6 range on an average. Single Screens will have this movie, but that alone won't help in all over collection.

I am also expecting it to hit 100... Solid 100 cr film solely on Ritesh's impact.

Okay, that makes sense. But I do feel that good WOM will take it to 100 crores if reviews are anything to go by.
