Saw Ek Villain on Saturday

Let me start off by saying this movie was nowhere near perfect.It had many flaws.The amazing part is that this movie STILL made me feel something...it made me blush,smile,frustrated,angry,depressed.There are many BW movies these days which makes lot of money at box office but fail to evoke any kind of reaction in me.I am glad Ek Villain was different in that sense,as it was one of my most awaited movies of 2014.Plus points of the movie were the cast,songs,bg music .Direction was average.Mohit Suri is capable of much more.But what put me off the most was the weak screen play and dialogues.The dialogues looked out of place at many places,the characters sketches left more to be desired.The movie could have been a smart crime drama if it was executed better.This is one missed opportunity for Mohit.

Now coming to performances,Riteish was a revelation as mentioned in many reviews.We have seen him excel in comic crappers with great ease but not many people would have thought he can play a negative character so well..He was totally convincing as the loser hubby and then later reincarnation of evil.Its a refreshing change from his characters in silly comedies like Humshakals.Shradha looked breathtakingly beautiful in every frame..I never thought she can be so stunning when I saw Aashiqui 2.I didnt like her PJs at all..Not sure she is suited for playing bubbly characters.But she was good in the mellowed down scenes and her chemistry with Sidharth was terrific.I never expected them to be so good together when I saw the trailer.

Now coming to the one and only reason I decided to watch EV on theaters,SIDHARTH MALHOTRA ☺️. OMG what can I say? He has shocked me.I never expected him to play the brooding revenge seeking bad boy so well..I mean with those cute puppy dog eyes of this,he fitted into a gangster's character like glove..Guru as a character wasnt as interesting as Rakesh,but he tried his best to do justice to director's vision..I loved his dialogue delivery and the way he expressed anger,pain and frustration.Actually I loved his action scenes too.They looked stylish and power packed to me.Ofcourse he still has to work on a lot of stuff but what a remarkable improvement from SOTY days.He never bored me and his emotional scenes moved me so much.WAY TO GO SID BOY!! PROUD OF U ⭐️.PS:Sorry but the people who are still calling him wooden and nonactor after Ek Villain, are blind with hatred for sure 😆

Overall Ek Villain was a movie worthy of the amount I spent on my tickets.Yes the movie falters at many aspects,yet I enjoyed watching it because the movie gave me the *feels* ❤️

Ek Villain had shown tremendous opening figures on Friday as the film collected 16.72 crores at the domestic box office. Come Day 2 and the film managed to hold up quite well. On its 1st Saturday, this Mohit Suri directorial raked in 15.5 crores (approx), taking its domestic total so far to 32.22 crores at the Box Office.

Ek Villains word-of-mouth is extremely positive, which clearly indicated that the film has worked with it's target audience. The film is expected to pick up massively today, as Sunday's morning shows itself have much better occupancy compared to Friday and Saturday.

Who would have expected that Ek Villain would perform this brilliantly? Yes, trade pundits did predict the film to tot up big numbers but no one expected figures as big as these from a film which features relative newcomers.
