Ek Villain released amidst a stupendous response at the box office today - an impressive 60-per cent opening. Footfalls increased during the course of the day and the evening and night shows were running house full. The film is expected to reel in over Rs 15 crore all-India NBOC, to become one of the highest openers of 2014. Distributors believe the film will enjoy an outstanding weekend. Over to them:

Rajesh Thadani, Multimedia Combines, Mumbai

The film opened to extraordinary numbers and footfalls increased as the day progressed. It is great to see new talents with such a big fan following and garnering such a good response at the ticket window. Now with such films being made, it is obvious that new talents as bankable. We expect the day one NBOC to cross Rs 15 crore all-India and around Rs 6 crore in Mumbai.

Brijesh Tandon, H K Tandon and Company, Delhi-UP

Mohit Suri has charmed the audience this time as well. As for the actors, Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh and Shraddha Kapoor, they own the ticket window right now. To get such a response is a huge deal and the film will definitely join the Rs 100-crore club. In Delhi UP, Ek Villain will collect Rs 3 crore today.

Jaspal Dhingra, Nanaskar Enterprises, East Punjab

With its hit music already creating a buzz, the film has exceeded our expectations with such a phenomenal response. Today, the film is likely to garner Rs 1.25 crore. These actors, who have done only a couple of films, are proving they can carry big films on their shoulders.

Gaurrav Gaur, O'Real Imagination, Rajasthan

The film has stormed cinema halls in Rajasthan. An opening like this is usually seen only if there are big names and superstars attached to a film. All-India, Ek Villain will collect close to Rs 15 crore and in Rajasthan, Rs 1 crore. It is a well-made film with fabulous music. Mohit Suri has recreated the magic of his 2013 Aashiqui 2.

Debashish Dey, Aum Moviez, West Bengal

The film took a bombastic opening here in West Bengal today and as the day progressed, the audience flocked to cinemas in large numbers. Ek Villain is expected to wrap day one at Rs 80-90 lakh, perhaps more, as the evening and night shows were fabulous.

Jeetu Khandelwal, Movie Pioneers, Orissa

The film has drawn a huge response and we expect collections to close at Rs 15-20 lakh. Let's hope the magic continues next week but the weekend will definitely be splendid.
