We 90s kids were from a generation that appreciated a KK number as much as we did a Guns N' Roses track. And boy, did we take our music seriously! From collecting and exchanging the latest cassettes to memorizing the lyrics by heart - the 90s was a magical era. And these 25 Indipop artistes (ranked in no particular order!) were a staple diet of our voracious musical appetites.

1. Falguni Pathak

So many 90s kids daydreamed about their first crushes to the romantic tracks of this melodious voice! What was young love in India, really, without 'Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi' and 'Maine Payal Hai Chhankai'?

2. Bally Sagoo

Bally Sagoo's remixes brought back vintage Bollywood to us while we were still young. From 'Chura Liya' to 'Dil Cheez' - and the unforgettable 'Gur Naal Ishq Mitha', the Indipop scene was made larger than life with Sagoo's musical genius.

3. Bombay Vikings

When Bombay Vikings hit the Indipop scene of the 90s, they became everybody's favorite with 'Kya Soorat Hai', 'Mona Re' and a number of other funky tracks.

4. Aryans

We all rooted for the young lovestruck Shahid Kapoor when he fell in love with his neighbor Hrishitaa Bhatt in the Aryans song 'Aankhon Mein'. It was the perfect Valentine's Day song!

5. Ila Arun

Ila Arun added just the right bit of aunty spice when she burst into the Indipop music scene with 'Dilli Sehar Mein' and 'Nigodi Kaisi Jawani Hai'. Love her or hate her, this woman has some really powerful vocal chords on her.

6. Shweta Shetty

This dusky hottie certainly captured a lot of attention... and hearts, with her catchy numbers like 'Deewane To Deewane Hai' and 'Johny Johny Joker'.

7. Sonu Nigam

If you did not grow up listening to this dude's songs, you had a terrible childhood. From 'Tu' to 'Deewana', his soulful voice made every song worth listening to again and again. And again.

8. Euphoria

The coolest Indian band of its time, Euphoria's debut single 'Dhoom Pichuk Dhoom' was the most popular video to hit TV screens in the 90s.

9. Lucky Ali

If there is one 90s artiste that everybody equally loved, it had to be Lucky Ali. From 'O Sanam' to 'Nahin Rakhta Dil Mein Kuch', this man's voice was molten gold.

10. Sunita Rao

Another Indipop artiste from the 90s that brightened up our playlists was Sunita Rao - with songs like 'Paree Hoon Main' and 'Kesariya Hai Roop Maro'.

11. Alisha Chinai

If USA had Britney Spears, we had Alisha Chinai. This petite songstress made quite an impact when she emerged with 'Made In India'!

12. Shaan

This Bengali crooner won everyone's heart with his totally hummable numbers from his albums 'Loveology' and 'Tanha Dil'.

13. Silk Route

Who does not remember 'Dooba Dooba' by Silk Route? They just don't make music like this anymore.

14. Altaf Raja

Someone truly said 'Altaf Raja was the Himesh Reshammiya of the 90s'. Haters gonna hate, but you know this list is incomplete without this musician!

15. Daler Mehndi

One of the crest jewels of the 90s Indipop scene has to be Daler Mehndi! This man defined swag with his VFX-filled music videos and opulent costumes and turbans!

16. Sukhbir

Before there was Yo Yo Honey Singh, there was Sukhbir. And what a singer he was! Feet still resume tapping and shoulders grooving when someone breaks out in 'Taare Gin Gin'.

17. Adnan Sami

No, we have not forgotten Adnan Sami! Ah, the number of booze-soaked evenings spent listening to 'Kabhi To Nazar Milao'.

18. Baba Sehgal

Who can forget the zany Baba Sehgal with his 'Aaja Meri Gaadi Mein Baith Jaa' and 'Manjula Manjula'?

19. Apache Indian

90s Indipop had its own reggae king as well - and that was Apache Indian. You weren't cool if you didn't groove to 'Shock There' and 'Boom Shack-a-Lack'!

20. Remo Fernandes

Does 'O Meri Munni' by Remo Fernandes ring a bell? If no, you really missed out on one cool track in the 90s.

21. Colonial Cousins

Another major part of the 90s Indipop scene were the Colonial Cousins who made quite the impact when they came out with their music video 'Krishna' and later 'Sa Ni Dha Pa'.

22. KK

How can we make this list and not include KK? Even though his first music video 'Pal' technically released in 2000, his music was an essential part of the 90s kids' nostalgia. And to be honest, the singer had already sung for movies like 'Maachis', 'Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi' and 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'.

23. Stereo Nation

The next band on this list is Stereo Nation with their amazing Asian fusion music. This author's personal favorite tracks were 'Nachange Saari Raat' and 'Don't Break My Heart'.

24. Hans Raj Hans

When it comes to Punjabi music, Hans Raj Hans also was one of the biggest names in the 90s with tracks like 'Dil Chori Saada Ho Gaya'.

25. Anamika

We end the list with the petite and energetic Anamika who got everyone grooving with her track 'Kahin Karta Hoga Who Mera'.
