Because she has achieved whatever she did on her own and wasn't given movies on a platter like Kajol was (who was a star kid).

Kajol is a bit like Kareena in the sense that she did not take many risks or attempted to do good cinema and stuck to the Karan Johar and YRF fluff. This, despite having the advantage of belonging to a film family. Even if she had failed in some risks, she had people to fall back on. However the good thing she did was, she did popular movies that the masses liked. And she's a good actress and excels at certain kinds of roles when she is not going OTT.

Aishwarya on the other hand had no backing and was a risk taker from the very beginning. No super model applies to Miss India - that's for the aspiring ones! Yet she did and she won. That shows her grit and determination. Whichever field she went into, she excelled. After doing a blockbuster like Devdas, she suddenly goes to Bengali and does a small film called Chokher Bali. She would do Tamil, English, Hindi, Bengali films - the language is never the problem. And she signs a Telugu film as her comeback when everyone is awaiting her comeback in Bollywood, only because she loved the script.

Speaking of achievements both are hugely popular actresses in India (they still show up on current Top actresses lists despite not having a film in four years) and both are good actresses with memorable roles in their CVs. What tilts this vote in Ash's favour is that she has an edge over a Kajol - be it in international fame, achievements (TIME magazine, Madame Tussauds, French honours, Cannes etc). Ash is also much more beautiful and is a graceful dancer, Kajol just cannot match up.

I would choose Kajol. She is a brilliant actor and is well known not only in India but overseas too for her amazing performances.

Kaajol her Fanna performance is higher than all aish performance

Aishwarya. She won Miss World. She was the outsider with no filmy background or connections. She was thrown out of Chalte Chalte and a few other movies after that.

Kajol is a very good actress, but for the most part overrated. She is memorable in her own niche not as memorable as someone who had no choice but to take up other roles and faced ups/downs.
