Sahni was ugly, his dashing dancer persona wasn't. And the gel-haired, sneaker-wearing, hip-hopping SRK was there in half of the film to compensate for Surinder's lack of looks.

come on...his dancer persona was comical not dashing😆...pulling his underwear every 2 minutes...wearing super tight clothes...it was a joke...not dashing...infact people liked Suri more than Raj in the movie😆
