Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha might have missed making her Tamil debut opposite Kamal Haasan, but the actress is making quite aDabangg entry in Kollywood opposite Rajinikanth in Lingaa.
The actress, who is presently shooting in Mysore, is excited to play lead opposite the superstar. "It feels great to be a part of a Tamil film and I couldn't have asked for a better debut. I started my Bollywood career with Salman Khan and in Tamil, I've done it with the Superstar himself! It is definitely a dabangg entry for me!" says an elated Sonakshi.
The story, we hear, is spread across two generations and Sonakshi will be a part of the former one. She says, "I am part of the 1940s generation and I play a girl who helps Rajinikanth. The look and the setting are completely new and I am quite kicked about my part."
Considering Sonkashi's father, Shatrugan Sinha, and Rajinikanth share a friendly equation, Sonakshi's quite kicked about working with the Superstar. "I've met Rajini sir when I was way younger. After coming to the set of Lingaa, I told him that I was pretty nervous about working with him. But he surprised me by saying, 'Why are you nervous? I am nervous to work with you since you're my friend's daughter," says Sonakshi with a smile. "Despite his star status, he is very humble. He made me feel very comfortable on the set and even said that the romantic angle would be shot keeping in mind both our comfort levels."
So, did Shatrugan give any pointers to work with the Kochadaiyaan star? "He wouldn't say anything about his friend. In fact, my father is happy that I am making my debut in Tamil opposite him," she says. While we are aware of the stars' friendship, does she share a cordial relationship with Rajinikanth's daughters? Sonakshi says, "Oh yes! Aishwarya wished me luck for the project and I met Soundarya in Mumbai recently when she came for her film's promotion. More than being friendly, I would say that they treat me like their younger sister. The entire family is protective about me."
Since Sonakshi has worked in a couple of Tamil remakes and with Kollywood directors like Prabhu Deva and AR Murugadoss, the R...Rajkumar actress says that she's quite comfortable with Tamil. "I mouthed a few dialogues in Tamil and I think I am pretty good. My director was quite happy with it, but I am
taking it a little slow," she says.
