Vikas Bahl's QUEEN all set to be the biggest hit of 2014

Just as we had hinted in our box-office report of last week, the Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer, QUEEN, turned out to be the first choice of the week, way ahead of the latest release BEWAKOOFIYAAN.

In fact as we file this report, there are indications that QUEEN may well repeat its first week total (around 18.50 crore) thus netting nearly 37 crore in two weeks from India. And depending on how this Friday's new releases fare (RAGINI MMS 2 and GANG OF GHOSTS), QUEEN may end up getting near to the 50 crore mark from India, an incredible feat indeed! Not only that, QUEEN has also picked up superbly in the US grossing $530,000.

Given the release cost to profit ratio, the reasonably budgeted QUEEN, is all set to be the biggest hit of the first quarter of 2014!

Queen has trended amazingly with a slightly higher week 2 than week 1.

Purely running on word of mouth movie has done well in pockets where it was least expected such as Bihar where usually such multiplex movies are a washouts and only stay on screens for a day or two. Queen is headed to take a 30 lakh + collections in Bihar which is a breakthrough.

Ragini MMS which has opened wide and well will be a threat to Queen's collections in week 3 but it is still expected to hit 50 crore mark and reach close to Kahaani's lifetime collections.

Queen is the first hit of 2014 with solid profits for everyone involved.

Overseas:
Ten Days: $ 849,120 or 5.26 Crore gross.

what a shame...despite of som much hype Gunday couldn't be A HIT...what sort of a big STAR Ranveer Singh really is ??? A clean superhit film is still VERY FAR AWAY from him 😆

This isn't BOI but some site not reliable the verdict on ghunday and queen Not out nor it tarans verdict it's more like a koi moi site !! It's movies reviews site

Hasee Toh Phasee Fair In Metros Jai Ho Is Semi Hit

Hasee Toh Phasee only had reasonable opening in few cities which were Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Pune and Bangalore. Outside these places it was a low start in these circuits. The start in metros gives the film a chance if it can show growth on Saturday and Sunday.

The other releases of the week which were Babloo Happy Hai, Heartless and Ya Rab are all washouts with collections that are very low giving them no chance at the box office.

One By Two collected a oiir 2.50 crore nett in week one. The film is a disaster.

Jai Ho has taken its two week business to 101.50 crore nett in two weeks with around 20 crore nett coming in week two. The film has not come up to the market expectations though the makers have made huge profits. SEMI HIT

lol a film being a hit has has 90% to do with the content of the movie and only 10% to do with the stars in the movie. For example kangna isn't the biggest star in bolywood but because queen had great content in it the word of mouth was so strong that it made the movie a hit.

Besharam has the biggest young star of Bollywood in it, ranbir kapoor, but because the content was not very strong that's why it flopped.

So this whole argument of the movies being hit or flop shows how big of a star the actor is is complete nonsense. The movie will only do well if the content is good, regardless of who is starring in it, and gunday did good business at the BO despite mixed word of mouth.

And ranveer did have clean hits with BBB and ramleela.
