The problem with Aishwarya is that her good work is extremely underrated and because of her war with the Khans, her achievements would always be downplayed. Otherwise I think her roles in Chokar Bali, Raincoat, Provoked, and even Umrao Jaan would have made a lot of noise. She got snubbed and ignored many times for giving good performances like in Guru, Jodha Akbar, Guzarish. I guess she doesn't have the time or the need to do extracurricular activities to get noticed or hyped up.
The industry was very hard on her...she never even got credit for the huge hit that Robot was, one of the first movies to reach 200 crore mark - but then the industry has no problem crediting Katrina for Dhoom-3 or Deepika for Race-2 where they had no roles.
Also, Bride & Prejudice, is the only film with an Indian female lead that was a huge world-wide hit. For its time, that was massive. But because it was a flop in India, people cant seem to think beyond that.
As for Deepika, she may have beat Ash in terms of having so many hits, but with those hits it doesn't mean anything. Katrina has the most hits, has she surpassed anyone?
Like someone said, Aishwarya is BEYOND her movies. If we look at numbers and the "technical" side then ya maybe Deepiak is doing better...but in terms of being an icon, superstar, celebrity - Aishwarya is in a different galaxy then Deepika.
Deepika belongs in the category of the "Rani and Preity's"...Within 5 years, nobody will care about her, but Aishwarya will still be relevant.
The fact that Deepika is even being compared to Aishwarya says a lot in itself. I mean you wouldn't compare her to Amisha Patel or Lara Dutta right? Her success, star power, and name is hugly underrated - She didn't make it to Time Magazines Most Influential List for NO REASON>
