I loved the film...watching it on DVD, I couldn't understand how it flopped badly whereas a film like Yeh Jawaani was a huge hit...my thoughts were "Imran and Kareena are both married, so no spice to create there unlike YJHD"...but poor the director Punit, KJo must have demote him already making him assistant or something 😕

It was utter rubbish with thanda pair and flop music. None of the stars have a good box office power. It was a flop even before it was made.

The film was terrible and no doubt about it.

But what was shocking that It had a great promo, Dharma Production, decent music, Kareena is definitely a star, Imran is ok and still it didn't take good opening.

But overall, it was a "Decent" product. Even promotions wise, nothing about the film was, "OMG, now THIS is something new or amazing"

IT just looked like a typical been there, done that, rom com.

Which would have worked on it's own. I mean, even a Shuddh Desi Romance took a decent opening and that had all newcomers. Same with SOTY.

Problem is, decent gets massacred when pit against a biggie like Ram Leela that promises quality, great visuals, something that wasnt seen onscreen for years, sizzling chemistry, top notch performances, and a director back in his comfort zone of creating a dream like canvas.

Both "Decent" and "Spectacular" released around the same time and targetted the same audience - Multiplexes.

Reasons the film didn't work for me

1. Horrible second half

2. Lack of chemistry between Imran and kareena

3. Kareena - as an actress she was good but I felt she was a miscast in the movie. A younger heroine would have helped the movie.

Surprisingly I didn't feel Imran was bad. In fact quite liked his and shraddha scenes. First half was interesting enough.

I liked it too. I actually like a lot of Kareena's flop films like Kurbaan, EMAET, Khushi (I know, I know--it's a guilty pleasure 😆), the old Talaash (again, I know 😆) and this one too.

She's fantastic. And it's a sign of a good actress...put her in a shitty movie, I'll still enjoy her performance and her in it. She's just a burst of fresh air on-screen. Unfortunately, can't say the same about Imran. I feel like it would have been better if maybe Saif, Abhay, Farhan, Emmy, or even Fardeen (God I used love these 2) were casted instead. Actually her and Ranveer would be interesting to watch too, but sadly she's deluded into thinking her and Imran have this great, epic chemistry. Which they don't. Kareena can carry a movie on her shoulders but Imran can't. Me and my bestie liked it, it only it was released in at a different tme b/c RL had such a huge buzz.

I dont think movie was bad for Imran, Imran was the soul of IHLS. He is just a romcom boy, I dont think he was bad in the film.

The collections of domestic and international were about same, which shows film worked really well outside India, but got shattered in India due to Ramleela.
